PART 1
CODE OF ETHICS AND PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT
1.1 CODE OF ETHICS
At PTE Leader, all teaching staff is expected to comply with our Code of Ethics and
Professional Conduct which is aligned with the Australian Professional Standards
for Teachers. The aim of this is to provide a set of principles to guide you as
teachers in everyday conduct and also assist you in case of ethical dilemmas as
well as to promote confidence and accountability in the teaching profession.

Our Code of Ethics is set out on three pillars: integrity, respect, and responsibility

a) Integrity:

- Maintaining professional relationships with learners, colleagues, and the


community
- Acting in the best interest of learners
- Behaving professionally and respectfully in ways that advance the teaching
profession

b) Respect:

- Treating leaners fairly and impartially


- Acknowledging and holding colleagues in high regard
- Working with care and compassion

c) Responsibility:

- Providing quality teaching


- Maintaining and developing professional practice
- Being cooperative with colleagues and taking accountability for your actions

1.2 PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT
1.2.1 Relationships with Leaners

Teachers must provide equal opportunities for all learners to learn


Teachers must treat their learners with courtesy and dignity and can expect to
be treated the same way by the learners
Teachers must maintain objectivity in their relationships with learners
Teachers must work within the limits of their professional expertise
Teachers must uphold and maintain clear professional boundaries with their
students
Teachers must be collaborative with learners (and their guardians if required)

1.2.2 Relationships with Colleagues

Teachers must value the input of their colleagues and respect different
teaching approaches
Teachers must treat each other with courtesy and respect
Teachers must use appropriate forums or platforms for constructive debate
related to professional matters
Teachers may share expertise and knowledge in a variety of collaborative
contexts
Teachers should show support to each other
Teachers should share information relating to the wellbeing of learners if
required to maintain the teaching quality

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
1.1 PRIVACY AND CONFIDENTIALITY
All PTE Leader teaching staff must comply with the Commonwealth Privacy Act
1988 in regard to the protection of personal information.

PTE Leader staff are not to disclose or share any private information of students or
learners. In case you need to take and use data or private information from
students or learners, consent must be obtained and documented.

Do NOT expose your personal data or information to students or learners if not


necessary. Each staff is responsible to protect his/her own personal data and
information.

PTE Leader is not legally responsible for any private interactions or conversations
between teaching staff and students or learners that are not related to
professional teaching purposes.

Any information and content presented by PTE Leader to teaching staff for
coaching and training purposes are strictly confidential. Teaching staff are not
permitted to share or use any information and content of PTE Leader without
consent and approval from management team of PTE Leader. (The
aforementioned information and content include and are not limited to teaching
resources and exercises).

1.2 ONLINE - CLASS POLICIES
1.2.1 Punctuality

- Teaching staff are required to attend their scheduled classes on time at the
beginning of teaching sessions (i.e. preferably at least 5 minutes before start time).
- All teaching staff are strongly recommended to comply with the duration of each
designated session and not to stay over the designated time frame (e.g. if it is a 1-
hour session, teaching staff should plan the lessons so that he/she does NOT stay
overtime and the online class ends after 60 minutes). Any overtime of more than
10 minutes must be documented and reported to the Quality Manager with a valid
reason.

1.2.2 Using mobile phones

- Using mobile phones for any reason other than teaching purposes is strictly
prohibited during the teaching session. The teaching staff is, however, exempted
to use mobile phone in case of emergency (e.g. family urgent calls or texts for
health conditions).
- During an online teaching session, teaching staff must put phones and other
electronic devices on silent mode if possible so that students are not distracted.

1.2.3 Absence

- If any teaching staff cannot attend a scheduled teaching session due to


compelling reasons (e.g. sickness), he/she must give notice to the Quality Manager
or Admin Team of PTE Leader as soon as possible. Please note that absent staff
may be required to provide proof or evidence for inability to show up (e.g. medical
cert if sick).

1.3 MAKE - UP TIME POLICIES
If for any compelling reasons that a teaching staff cannot attend a scheduled
teaching session, he or she may be required to propose a make-up session with
the agreement of the group of students scheduled for that session. It is the
responsibility of the teaching staff to make this arrangement happen. Such
arrangement must be reported to and approved by the Quality Manager or Admin
Team of PTE Leader.

1.4 COMMUNICATION POLICIES


All teaching staff must communicate any work related matters to official platforms
of PTE Leader such as email, teaching platforms or provided mobile number of
Supervisor.

All teaching staff are to use professional language when having conversations that
are work related. The use and spread of foul language, extremism, violence, and
hatred are strictly prohibited in PTE Leader official communication channels,
websites and teaching platforms.

PTE Leader is not responsible for any forms of communication made by teaching
staff outside of designated working hours or when such communication is made
via platforms or channels that are not officially supported and controlled by PTE
Leader.
