Equity Action Plan
Objective: Raise the percentage of black and African American
students who constitute as proficient for all subject areas on
standardized assessments through leader support of teacher-
leaders.
▪ Step 1: Increase staff knowledge of the discrepancy between black
student achievement and white student achievement in the school and
spark motivation for change amongst the teacher-leaders.

▪ Step 2: Offer teacher-leader support in best practices to reach black and


African American youth.

▪ Step 3: Get more students involved in after-school groups and activities.

▪ Analyze standardized assessment data before action steps put in place, on mid-
year assessments, and spring assessments.

▪ Teachers can monitor the overall grade and success of their black and African
American students at the end of each unit- monitoring for growth.

Summary

▪ Without taking immediate action, students of color will continue to fall


behind academically.

▪ Educational leaders and teachers can educate themselves on the racial


achievement gap and work together to make a positive difference for our
black and African American youth.
