PROJECT PROPOSAL
I. Project Name

Youth Connectors
II. Objectives
List the project’s objectives

Youth Connectors aims to solve the following problems:

 The lack of orientation and/or technical and soft skills needed for the labor market
in university students: By 2023, Vietnam is expected to have about 6,640,000
university students. According to statistics of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce
and Industry, each year, 60% of fresh graduates work in a different industry than
their university major. This is due to the fact that 38% of new graduates across the
country do not have a specific career orientation. Along with that, according to a
survey of ~1000 university students in Hanoi, 79,6% stated that they lack
experience to grow professionally, 61,2% lack soft skills needed to thrive in the
future labor market.
 The shortage of highly skilled labor for technical placements, especially in the time
during and post-COVID-19 that leads to the risks of losing jobs: Statistically, the
share of employment in high-skilled occupations with regards to the ASEAN
Member States was below 20% in 2017, in which Vietnam shares were under 10%.

Regarding the identified problems, Youth Connectors, through a series of activities

including personality test, consulting with successful mentors, attending work orientation
webinars and bootcamp, aims to i) create a chance for students to understand themselves
and the labor market thoroughly to have better career orientation, ii) help students
acquire academic and technical knowledge and soft skills needed for the future labor
market ii) create a community/network for students and mentors from various industries
to help broaden their network and find career opportunities.
