Loaded Words Practice

Directions: Imagine you are writing a letter to someone in which you feel
your words will save their life. Change the following words/phrases to have
the most persuasive effect on your reader by using the most
extreme/loaded words.
Example: Little Person= Midget, Miniscule, and Inferior
These words may refer to a little person, and the connotations of the words
provide an extremely negative image of the person.

1. Dislike = Despise, hate, disdain, mock


2. Like = Admire, enjoy, appreciate
3. Unhappy = Depressed, sad, heartbroken, dispirited
4. Happy = joyful, contented, cheerful
5.Smart = Intelligent, genius, brilliant
6. Not Smart = Stupid, dense, brainless, dull, foolish
7. Underweight = Thin, slender, skinny, scrawny, bony
8. Overweight = Obese, fat, heavy, big, large
9. Attractive = Pretty, beautiful, stunning, gorgeous.
10. Unattractive= Ugly, hideous, awful-looking
