sc – single crochet
inc – increase (two sc in one st)
dec – decrease (insert hook in next
st, draw up a loop, insert hook in
next stitch, draw up a loop, {three
loops on hook} yarn over, draw
through all three loops)
Materials List
Medium worsted weight yarn –
White for tooth and color of your
choice for the toothbrush. (small
amount of black, pink, or red for
mouth)
Crochet hook – H8 / 5.00mm
Safety eyes (10mm) or buttons for
eyes (2)
Pre cut floral wire, silver is best but
the green wire works well too. Or
black pipe cleaners.
Tapestry needle to weave in ends
Long doll needle with large eye
opening (optional). To anchor
crown to base. You can also use
the tapestry needle for this; I just
find it easier with a doll needle.
Hemp cord or yarn
Stitch marker so you don’t get lost in
all the rounds
Fiber fill for stuffing
Plastic canvas for the toothbrush
support. (optional) You can also
use fiber fill.
Super glue to secure knots
(optional).

Notes
 All pieces are worked in the round
unless otherwise stated.
 While crocheting your crochet
surface may be turned inside out, it
naturally forms this way. Make sure
you turn your project right side out
while crocheting. Right side should
be facing you.
 Place and secure safety eyes before
stuffing the crown.
 All rounds start with a magic
adjustable ring. If you aren’t sure
how to make one there are plenty of
tutorials online that will show you.
Also, if you would rather use the “ch
2” method that works too.
Ch 2 method – ch 2, make round in
second ch from hook.
 Place your stitch marker in the first
sc of each round to mark your spot.
 All rounds are worked in a
continuous spiral. Do NOT join
rounds with sl st.
 Keep stitches as tight as possible,
use smaller hook if needed.
 The arms may be made out of pipe
cleaners instead of floral wire. No
need to wrap them in yarn.
Crown
Make 1

R1: sc 8 times in a ring 8 sc

R2: inc in each 8 sts 16 sc
R3: (inc in next 2 sts, sc in next 2 sts) 4 times 24 sc
R4: (sc in next st, inc in next 2 sts, sc in next 3 sts) 4 times 32 sc
R5: (sc in next 2 sts, inc in next 2 sts, sc in next 4 sts) 4 times 40 sc
R6: (sc in next 3 sts, inc in next 2 sts, sc in next 5 sts) 4 times 48 sc
R7-18: sc around 48 sc
R19: (sc in next 5 sts, dec in next st, sc in next 5 sts) 4 times 44 sc

Fo, place safety eyes 13 rounds down and 8 sts apart centered on the forward
facing side of crown. If using buttons, you can do this step later… Sew the smile
on using a backstitch. See reference photo and diagram below.

Roots
Make 4

R1: sc 6 times in a ring 6 sc

R2: sc around 6 sc
R3: (inc in next st, sc in next 2 sts) 2 times 8 sc
R4: sc around 8 sc
R5: (inc in next st, sc in next 3 sts) 2 times 10 sc
R6: sc around 10 sc
R7: (inc in next st, sc in next 4 sts) 2 times 12 sc
R8: sc around 12 sc
R9: (inc in next st, sc in next 5 sts) 2 times 14 sc
R10: sc around 14 sc
R11: (inc in next st, sc in next 6 sts) 2 times 16 sc

Sewing Roots Together –

1. Tie two roots together at

the center. Make a knot.
2. Use one yarn tail to
whipstitch roots together for
5 sts
3. Tie a knot at the end
4. Tie another root onto the
center knot
5. Repeat from step 1 until all
roots are sewn on.
6. Weave in all ends.

 Sew the crown to the roots

There should be 40 sts around both the crown and roots. You can start
in the front center to ensure that the roots and face match up and aren’t
crooked. It doesn’t have to be perfect, just somewhat centered.

 Making the wire arms
(View the next three pages of photos)

1. Fold precut floral wires in half

2. Insert two wires for each arm even with the
mouth a few rows down below the eyes
3. Holding the wire at the base with needle
nose pliers, twist the wires until they reach
3”
4. Attach yarn to the same stitch that your
wire is.
5. Twist the yarn around the wire arms until
you reach the wrist and fingers.
6. Wrap each finger, one at a time until it
reaches ¾”
7. Fold the wire over the yarn you just
wrapped for the finger. Securing the yarn
in place
8. Clip the excess wire off.
9. I put a dab of superglue on the wire to
prevent unraveling before I start wrapping
the yarn back down the finger.
10. Wrap the yarn back down the finger to the
wrist.
11. Repeat from step 6 for the other fingers.
12. When you are done wrapping the fingers
you are going to wrap the arm back up to
the stitch that you started from.
13. Tie off and hide the yarn
14. Repeat from step 1 for the next arm.

 Making the dimple at the top of the tooth

1. Using hemp cord and a long doll needle weave the hemp
from the top center of the crown to the bottom center of the
roots
2. Pull it tight to make the dimple on the top of the crown.
3. Tie it off.
4. Weave in ends and clip excess hemp.

 Toothbrush

For the handle I just sc 8 in a ring and continue going around until it reaches 6”
long. No need to use a stitch marker, just continue until you reach a length of 6”.
To make it stiff I used a piece of plastic canvas and cut it to a size of 8x40 squares.
I folded it in half lengthwise and sewed it up with a blanket stitch. Any stitch will
work here, whipstitch is a good option.

Bristles (work in rows)

Ch 6, turn.

R1: sk first ch, sc in each of next 5 sts, turn 5 sc

R2: (ch 6, sl st in bklp of sc) 5 times, turn 5 loops
R3: ch 1, sc in each of next 5 sts from previous sc row, turn 5 sc
R4: (ch 6, sl st in bklp of sc) 5 times, turn 5 loops
R5: ch 1, sc in each of next 5 sts from previous sc row, turn 5 sc
R6: (ch 6, sl st in bklp of sc) 5 times 5 loops

Fo. Leave long tail for sewing. Stitch the bristles onto the toothbrush with a
whipstitch along the sides.

Shape the hands around the
toothbrush where you would like
them to be. The tooth can hold
it with one hand or two. Either
way you do it will be fine. I tack
my hands to the toothbrush with
an X stitch and hide the tails so
they stay together.

Tooth Fairy Pocket

Ch 11, sk first ch, sc across, ch 1, turn. Make 6 rows with 10 sc across.

Sew it onto the back with a whipstitch along the sides and the bottom of the
pocket.
