Yoga day was started in 2015 by the genuine effort made by the Prime Minister of
India, Narendra Modi! And, it is celebrated every year on 21st of June. Yoga is
that medicine that has the power to cure any disease of the Universe, even those
which cannot be cured by the prescription of Doctor. Including Yoga in everyday
life is one of the healthiest practice people can ever make. It not only makes you
physically well but will calm your mind and soul.

To spread awareness about Yoga day in schools, institutions and other

Yoga Day Speech for Kids-1


International Day of Yoga was celebrated throughout the world for first time on
21st of June in 2015. The declaration was done after the call by the Indian Prime
Minister, Narendra Modi to the United Nations General Assembly on 27th of September
in 2014 during his address to the UN General Assembly. On that day, record number
of people practised Yoga in Delhi under the leadership of Indian Prime Minister Mr.
Narendra Modi. It was a world record for the highest participation in one single
yoga session. This is a great achievement for Indians. More than 170 countries
including USA, China, Canada, etc participated in the event. It was celebrated on
international level by organizing the activities like yoga training campus, yoga
competitions and so many activities to enhance the awareness about yoga benefits.
It was celebrated to let you know that regular yoga practice lead to better mental,
physical and intellectual health. It positively changes your lifestyle and
increases the level of well-being.

Yoga is not only a physical exercise where you twist, turn, stretch, and breathes
in the most complex ways. These are actually only the most superficial aspect of
this profound science of unfolding the infinite potentials of the human mind and
soul. It leads to the healthy development of mind, body and soul by mastering
certain yoga postures or asanas with breathing techniques. Pranayama needs special
mention. It is the simplest form of yoga which is done before any asana. It teaches

Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit word yuj. Yoga means union of the individual
consciousness or soul with the Universal Consciousness or Spirit. It is a 5000 year
old Indian body of knowledge. It is a system of raising your ability to perceive,
to enhance and to realise your ultimate nature. Yoga is the most profound
exploration of the very mechanics of life. It is a gift to humanity, and should be
started early in life so the practitioner can reap the lifelong benefits of this
ancient practice. There are some very important advantages to start yoga when you
are young. The magical age is 8.

It is common knowledge that adults combat stress in many forms every day. But
today�s children are as stressed as adults. Growing competition in schools and
colleges, dealing with peer pressure, difficult stage of puberty, extracurricular
activities and meeting parents� and teachers� expectations are very stressful for
children. The best way you can cope with this pressure is by practicing yoga. The
practice has a huge effect on your body and the systems that support it, like the
nervous, respiratory and digestive systems. Yoga influences children�s emotions and
behaviour; it has a positive effect on the mental state and aids creativity.
