Causes of Tsunami

Earthquakes:-
It can be generated by movements along fault zones associated with
plate boundaries.
All earthquakes are neither harmful nor they cause tsunamis.
Four major conditions necessary for an earthquake to cause a tsunami
are:
i) The earthquake must occur beneath the ocean.
ii) It must be strong with an intensity of 6.5 on the Richter Scale.
iii) must occur at shallow depth – less than 70km below the water level.
iv) Also must cause vertical movement of the seafloor (up to several
meters).
