Team Building and Conflict Management | Term III

Term Paper [PRM – 42]

In your TBCM groups, you shall be writing a Term Paper and making a presentation on the term paper in the
10th session of the course. This note shall serve as a guideline for writing the term paper.
Based on the secondary sources, identify one of the conflict situations of your choice with business relevance:
(a) Workplace conflict between employees (superior and subordinate, peers) or employee(s) and the employer
(b) Two or more industry players
(c) Company and the industry
(d) Industry and the government

The above list is not exhaustive, and any conflict relevant to the business setting may be taken up. Some of the
secondary sources that groups can explore are business magazines such as Forbes, Fortune, Business World,
newspapers, business blogs, legal cases sources such as AIR, etc.
Follow the outline below for preparing the term paper. You have a scope of deviating from the outline;
however, you need to have an excellent reason for doing so.
1. The topic of conflict and rationale for choosing the topic – what is this issue's significance in the
organization?
2. Parties engaged in the conflict.
3. Reason of conflict as perceived by the parties.
4. Stakes in the conflict
5. Cost of the conflict – Business losses, relational losses, etc.
6. Conflict management or conflict resolution strategies/styles
7. Outcomes of conflict resolution
8. Reasons for success and failure of conflict management or resolution
9. Reflections and Generalization
