Hi Yussry,
How’s the weather in England? It is hot and dry in my country now. I’m happy to receive your
email last night. In your mail, you asked me about the people in Malaysia, my beloved country. Well, I
have good news for you. I am the right person to tell you about the people in my country. I can pass to
you many information about this topic especially about the Malays as I am a Malay origin.
The first thing you need to know about the Malays in Malaysia is their cuisines. Most of the food
are basically hot and spicy. It is filled with tasty ingredients which are mainly found in the local groceries
around Malaysia. Malays have tendency of eating spicy dishes as they plant many chilies and peppers in
their homes and gardens. The most popular Malay dish is called the Rendang. It consists of the meat,
coconut milk and spices. The taste is succulent and amazingly delicious – out of the world.

One of the culture that I want to tell you is about the celebration of Eid Mubarak. Malays are
mainly Muslims and practices the Islamic traditions. During the whole month of Ramadhan, they will
perform the fasting. Restraining themselves from food and the prohibitions in Islam. On the new month
of Syawal, they celebrate their success of fasting on the first day of Syawal. The celebration starts with
the solat sunnah Eidul Fitri- a special prayer of Eid. This prayer will be participated by all and done at the
nearest mosque near their homes. Next, they put on their best dress and attire to visit their friends and
family members to seek forgiveness from each other. On this day a special dish of Lemang, Ketupat
Rendang and will be served to anyone who come visiting them.

People in Malaysia live harmoniously and peacefully. They are multiracial and multi-cultural but
they are united in all aspects of lives. Take for example the celebrations of different cultural and
traditional beliefs. The Malaysian can adapt and adopt each other differences in the name of unison.
Oops, I have to end my email now as I need come shut eyes for tomorrow’s sahur. I have to wake up
earlier and prepare meals for my mom and dad. Hope to see you soon. Thank you so much.

Bye Yussry and see you in the next mail.
