Significance of the study

The results of the study will be of great benefit to the government responsible in waste

management. Data given will provide the government with information on how the cylinder

type thermoelectric generators help the waste management as a reliable source of energy

while lowering the production cost of waste disposal. The results will enable the researchers to

improve the cylinder type thermoelectric generators as a reliable source of energy. Data

gathered will help the researchers’ initiate collaborations among the government responsible in

waste management to help plan the use of cylinder type thermoelectric generators as an eco-

friendly source of energy.

Also, the results of the study will help the local municipal on their waste management

and other uses of electricity such as emergency lights when hit by natural calamities such as

typhoons. Results would also develop the proper disposal of waste in an area given that it can

be used as a reliable source of energy.

Lastly, Thermoelectric applications are classified according to the two effects

characterizing the process, namely the Seebeck effect, for any application that generates

electricity with a temperature difference, and the Peltier effect for any cooling application

powered by an electric current. The latter case is not examined in this article; only applications

that generate electricity are presented. To generate electricity from a TE module, it is necessary

for there to be a temperature difference between its hot and cold surfaces. In other words, it is

necessary that the heat recovered from the hot source scatters into the semiconductor

elements p and n of the module, and then to the cold source, which is usually the environment.
TEG applications can be classified into three categories, depending on the nature of the hot

source: (i) radioisotope heat source, (ii) natural heat source, and (iii) waste heat source
