SAT Eligibility Criteria - For the US and International Students

students who wish to pursue their higher studies in universities and colleges abroad, in countries like
the US, Canada, Australia, Singapore, and many other countries.

What are the Eligibility Criteria for SAT?

SAT Eligibility Criteria do not involve any fixed measures to be fulfilled, however, a few parameters
which can be considered an important factors can be:

SAT Eligibility Criteria for International Students

For international students, SAT is like a key to admission and scholarship to universities abroad.
Considering the students who participate in SAT internationally, the maximum participation is
observed from students in classes 10, 11, or 12. 

Pros of SAT for International Students

1. The scores for the English section (Reading and Writing), are now considered for half the SAT
score, instead of covering two­thirds of the score. It is an advantage for the students with non­native
English proficiency, as they are known to have a good grasp of the Mathematics section as
compared to the English section.

2. In the SAT examination, no uncertain vocabulary words will be used, which is a good thing for
both, native and non­native speakers, making it easier for the students to understand and easier for
international students.

3. All the sections feature graphs, tables, and charts, which is an advantage for someone who is
smooth with the data interpretation.

Cons of SAT for International Students

1. The reading passages feature an evidence­based question, backing up your answers from the
evidence in the text. The same is considered for the writing section, wherein it is recommended to
have a good grasp of the structure and syntax.

2. Mathematics word problems are also real­life­based scenarios, which may or may not be an
advantage for the SAT Math section.

Facilities for Disabled Students Appearing for SAT

For the students with disabilities, College Board has made a few arrangements, so that no student
who is willing to appear for the exam is left. The students will have to inform the institution in order
for them to make the required arrangements with the help of the assigned units. 

The key arrangements involve

1. Extra breaks are provided throughout the exam.

2. Extra time to finish the exam.

3. For visually impaired students appearing for the exam, large­print exam sheets are arranged.

SAT Eligibility - Things to Remember

There are no speci몭c eligibility criteria to be ful몭lled, however, many a time the process for registration and
checking the required documents may require more time. 

You can ace your SAT examination, by keeping the following things in mind:

1. Practice various sample papers.

2. Research the required score for admission to your target university.

3. Focus on the Mathematics section and cover all sections during preparation.

4. SATs are not just entrance exams, but your SAT score can help you earn scholarships that can
cover your tuition fees as well.
