ABSTRACT HYBRID (SOLAR+BIOMASS)

Increasing electricity demand, limited reserves of fossil
fuels and global environmental concerns are the main
factors which motivate the use of renewable energy in
India. Solar energy is available in profusion but the
high initial investment and non-uniformity are the
disputed points associated with the solar energy.
Biomass power plant demands a surplus amount of
feedstock which may not available all the time. Hence,
the integration of solar and biomass overcome the
limitations associated with the conventional solar
power plant and biomass power plant unaccompanied.
Hybridization of these two resources complement each
other both seasonally and diurnally. Renewable energy * Solar and biomass are the only renewable resources that
technologies are suitable for serving the remote areas make sense in most part of India
without extending expensive and perplexing grid * Both suffer from low capacity factor (high humidity and
infrastructure. rain ) Biomass only approach works but supply can be an
issue, especially in drought conditions.
INTRODUCTION
A TOOL FOR ANALYSIS - HOMER
Many villages in world are isolated from the main
utility grid. It is really difficult to meet their Hybrid Optimization Model for Electric Renewable
requirements by the conventional resources because of (HOMER) is a computerized model developed by the
high cost of transportation and the distribution of U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) to
energy to the remote areas.. Every year the demand of assist the design of power system and facilitates the
electrical energy is growing rapidly throughout the comparison of power generation technologies. HOMER
world. Generally, the production of electrical energy is used to determine the life-cycle cost or total cost of
depends on the fossil fuels. Also, the world is installation and operating the system over its lifetime
experiencing many environmental issues related to
usage of fossil fuels. Green technologies play an
important role in future power supply. The main
reason for the deployment of the renewable energy

BIOMASS SOURCES CONCLUSION

Hybrid Solar-Biomass plants are feasible solution for
small-mid scale applications in India. The effective
utilization of multi-criteria decision-making tools is
becoming increasingly important to manage the growing
complexity of sustainable energy systems.
