ORIENTATION

An orientation was conducted for all young marketing enthusiasts of JMC. The purpose of
this session was to help students understand the working of the society.
The society comprises 6 departments including Organising, Sponsorship, Public Relations,
Technical, Creativity and Research and Development Department.
The President, Vice President, General Secretary, Finance Secretary, Joint Secretary, Project
Head and Student Coordinator along with the Department Heads introduced themselves, and
described the objectives, vision and future plans of society. They also gave a glimpse of the
activities performed by them, which are as follows-
The session ended with a Q&A session and all the queries were answered by the Core team.
INTERVIEWS

After the Recruitment form, Interviews were conducted for the shortlisted candidates.
Mercatus received an overwhelming response. Candidates shortlisted after the interviews
were transitioned smoothly into the working of the society.
With the aim of spreading awareness about increase in waste generated due to increase in
population, Green is The New Black was a Best out of Waste Competition organized by
Mercatus. The event also featured a Bake Sale.
The event was successful in establishing the idea of sustainable development in the college
and received a tremendous response.
ZION 2019
Zion 2019 was organized on 22nd of February, witnessing over 100 teams participating in
highly competitive and difficult event.
1. Breaking Brand –
involving the creation and marketing of a product on social media and presenting it
before a panel of judges with a SWOT Analysis, strategic planning for the future etc.;
2. M-Plan –
Involves a marketing case study sent to the participants to analyse and solve and then
present their solutions to a panel of judges;
3. Marcade 2.0 –
A Trading game in which the teams were given a portfolio with a specific value and a list
of products. The teams had to analyse the value of the products and trade them in an
outcry system;
4. Amazing Race –
A scavenger hunt in which the participants had to solve a crossword puzzle related to
marketing to qualify after which they were given clues and tasks to complete the race.
5. Ad-Mad –
an advertisement frenzy involving 3 rounds full of fun related to current ads, their
slogans and their creation.
Zion witnessed a massive crowd because of its magnificent speaker session held at two ends
by first, the fourteen-year-old, Wonder Girl of India - Janhavi is pursuing second year of
Bachelor’s degree in Arts from Delhi University, unlike most kids of her age who are in
Class 8. She has mastered eight foreign accents, in addition to French, Japanese, English,
Hindi and Haryanavi. Janhavi dreams of becoming a BBC news anchor and to crack IAS. She
is a motivational speaker and has given talks to educational institutes and even to IAS
officers and second, by Rahul Dua, an electronic and communication engineer from Thapar
University and an MBA graduate from the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS),
University of Delhi is an entrepreneur in the comedy world of India. His rise to fame is
attributed mainly to his unique brand and style of communication to connect with the
audience which he built using social media marketing tactics on YouTube and Instagram.
VIRAL IN NATURE
As a part of the International Conference on 29th March 2019, Mercatus organized Viral in
Nature - a social media campaign designing competition to increase brand awareness and
draw attention to company values in a way that resonates with the target audience. It attained
National/International attention on social media and also ensured to draw parallel with socio-
political issues.
