About us:-
Dr. Chaudhuri along with his extraordinary clinical skills had always been
keen to uplift the standard of medical and nursing education in our country.
Hence he was the driving force to establish the KPC medical College and
Hospital as one of the leading private medical and nursing colleges in the
state of West Bengal.
Dr. Chaudhuri is a practicing Orthopedic surgeon since 1892 and has been
certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons. In addition to his
immaculate track record as a highly respected orthopedic surgeon, Dr.
Chaudhuri holds the following prestigious honors and credentials:
Leadership:-
The Board of the founding members of the Society includes Dr. Kali Pradip
Chaudhury, his family members, friends, associates and representatives of
the Government of West Bengal.
Shova Rani Nursing College has been set up by Dr. K.P. Chaudhuri, the
Chairman of KPC Group in memory of his late mother Shova Rani Chaudhuri.
My humble thanks & sincere appreciation to all the faculty, office staff and
students of the Nursing Colleg for everything that has been done & yet to be
done.

We are proud to state that our Basic B.Sc. Nursing seats have been
enhanced with 80 student intake per year and we have successfully started
the Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Course with 30 intakes yearly. The distant
education program with Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing students are also running in
our college since 2007.
Selection Criteria:-
1. Minimum educational qualification is passed in Higher Secondary
School Certificate Examination, Senior School Certificate Examination,
Pre-degree Examination or an equivalent with 12 years schooling with
Biology, Physics, Chemistry and English with 50% in each subject as
well as 50% in aggregate.
2. Admission is based on the merit list of the Entrance Examination:
JENPAUH and the candidate are required to go through counseling
procedure.
3. The Candidates will have to undergo a Medical Check-up and produce
a fitness certificate from our approved Intuition/ Registered Medical
Practitioner,
4. The Candidate should possess good health and moral character.
Facilities:-
Class Room with state of the art infrastructure:
There are six classrooms to accommodate students admitted in each class.
The rooms are well ventilate with proper lighting system, built-in and
portable black/green boards, equipped with Slide Projector, Overhead
Projector, Computers and television with CD, DVD player & LCD Projector.
Library:-
Comfortable seating arrangements for 1/3 of the total number of students
and staffs. Proper lighting, heating and cooling arrangements depending on
the climate. Sufficient number of cupboards, racks for proper storing of
books, magazines etc. We have stock of up to date reference books,
textbooks, magazines, national and international nursing & medical journals.
The library is equipped with audio visual aids along with Internet facilities.
Laboratories:
It consists of
Nursing Practice laboratory: to accommodate six beds with modern chase
Doll & CPR mannequin. It is fully equipped with built-in cupboards,
washbasins with running water supply, adequate furniture items like tables
and chairs, electric fittings etc. The laboratories are well equipped to practice
skill demonstration sessions
Transportation facilities:-
The college provides transportation facilities for taking students to the
attached hospitals as well rural training centres (community Nursing),
escorted by our teaching staff.
Hostel facilities:-
Hostel facilities will be provided for the students, Each room will
accommodate three students. There are common dinning, kitchen and
recreation room. A full time warden is engaged to look after the internal
administration and day to day discipline of the hostel. Hostel charges once
paid are neither refundable nor transferable if a student leaves the hostel
before completion of the course. No student will stay out of the hostel at
night without prior permission of the warden and written approval of the
local guardian. The hostel authorities will not be responsible for loss of any
valuable personal belongings or money. Penalty charges will be imposed if
any inmate violates the hostel rules or found guilty of any indiscipline or
misconduct. The hostel fees will be prescribed by the society and given
information to the Principal. Any case of illness shall immediately be notified
to the warden. Students will be required to sign a declaration agreeing to
abide by the rules and regulations of the hostel before getting admission.
Decision of the Warden and Principal regarding any matter in the hostel will
be binding on the students, A well-equipped canteen is provided to cater
needs of all.
Extensive Learning
Libraries are the soul of every institution of higher learning. The pursuance of
excellence is a worthy goal for any student, scholar or academic. Easy
availability of printed literature in the form of national and international
journals, volumes, books and monographs create the basic necessary
environment for the fulfillment of the above objectives.
The Shova Rani Nursing College has the facility of a library with easy and
open access to books and journals. There are hundreds of volumes on
specified subjects published in India and aboard. Nursing Journals are also
subscribed, the author and Subject index have been computerized and
availability of CD ROMS further strengthens the facilities for archival
research. Photocopying and reprography are some of the other services.
Student Counseling
The college has set-up a Board of Counselors of faculty members each of
whom are designated in charge of a group of students.
The counselors would guide the students in all matters including personal
matters. The counselors will personally oversee the overall progress of their
students in their charge. They will work in co-ordination with the
parents/guardians in an endeavor to bring out the best in the students.
