This Work Instruction describes how the update the Ziehm Host Software is carried out

Windows and GUI Screenshots shown in this work instruction are not
necessarily representing the Ziehm Vision software Version installed, copied or
extracted on your PC / Laptop / USB-Service stick
The intention of the work instruction is to show the general upgrade procedure

4. Ordering Information

Software Versions 5.xx.x (VIS Software Versions)

For each released software version the Ziehm Host package for updating the image memory
software, and Ziehm Vision Studio Software for updating the CAN modules, are free to download
on the password protected area of the Ziehm Imaging Memberservice

Software Versions 6.xx.x and 7.xx.x (NGP Software Versions)

For each released software version a single Software package, for updating the image memory
and CAN modules, is free to download on the password protected area of the Ziehm Imaging
Memberservice

6. General Information

A 1GB or 4GB USB-Service stick is necessary to gain full access into the
service settings on systems with Ziehm Software 4.12 and higher installed.
The USB stick is personalized for a single service technician and grants
access for 2 years. The Service USB-Stick must not be left in or at the unit
after service is finished

The full service settings are only accessible with the Service USB-Service
Stick

Since Ziehm Host Software Version 4.16 a registration of the service action
should be logged in the ZIVI.LOG file

7. Download the required Software package(s) from Ziehm Imaging Member Service

The latest released Host software package (depending on the image memory and software
generation 5.xx.x / 6.xx.x / 7.xx.x), as well as selected previous Versions, are free to download
on the password protected area of the Ziehm Imaging Memberservice

Only authorized distributors, dealers or service personnel have


access to the password protected area of the Ziehm Imaging
Member Service

To get personalized access to the Ziehm Imaging Member Service, send an e-mail with your
request and further information (such as name, organization and occasion) to
memberservice@ziehm.com or fill out the contact form at the Ziehm Imaging website. After
successful verification of the application you get the required Login data and the account will be
activated

7.1. Software Versions 4.xx and ≤ 5.30.3 SPx

7.1.1. Preparation Update-CD or USB-Stick

For Ziehm Host Software 4.xx the unzipped folder name is


“HOST_SW_4_20” which contents the software package

Up to Ziehm Vision Host Software 5.24.0 the unzipped folder name is


“pupdate” which contents the software package

Since Ziehm Host Software 5.25.3 the unzipped folder name is the name
of the included software e.g. “Vision Host Software Version 5.30.x”

 For Software Version 4.xx the root-update folder which includes


the update files, must be named update

 For Software Versions up to Software Version 5.30.3 SPx the


update folder which includes the update files, must be named
pupdate

Packed files in either of these folders (e.g. qupdate, supdate, ngis_vis)


must not be further unpacked. During the installation procedure they will
be unpacked automatically

7.1.2. Specifics before Updating the HOST-Software

If Upgrading from CD-ROM no “pupdate” nor an “update” folder may on an


inserted USB-Stick

If Upgrading from Ziehm Vision Host Software 5.02 to 5.03 or higher, the Start Screen must
set to “Fluoro”. After upgrading the Start Screen setting can be reverted

To upgrade a system to Ziehm Vision Host Software 5.03 or higher, the system must have
rotating anode monitoring activated

Before Upgrading to Ziehm Vision Host Software 5.03 or higher the jumper J1 on board U531
(pre-power supply “slave2”) has to be plugged to U531:J1 – Pins 2/3

7.1.3. Backup data files prior the Update

Save the following parameter files before upgrading the unit to your service USB-Stick

 vision.md
 ae_title.new
 dis8000.ini
 zivi.log

To backup the parameter files to a service USB-stick, the unit has to have
at least Ziehm Vision Host Software Version 4.12 installed

Connect the Mobile Stand with the Monitor Cart

 Switch on the system ON and wait until the system has booted up completely

 Insert the prepared service USB-stick ( see Chapter 8.2.1) into the USB slot at the
front of the monitor cart

 Wait for the acoustic signal of detecting the Service USB-stick

Switch to Config  Service Settings  Common

Choose successively

 Save dis8000.ini to Floppy Disk/USB


 Save ae_titel.new to Floppy Disk/USB
 Save zivi.log to Floppy Disk/USB
 Save vision.md to Floppy Disk/USB

7.1.4. Restoring data files

Restoring the data files (vision.md) from the Service USB-stick is


possible with Ziehm Vision Host Software 4.12 and higher

Only data files in the “VisionFiles” on the service USB-stick folder


can be restored

Connect the Mobile Stand with the Monitor Cart

 Switch on the system ON and wait until the system has booted up completely

 Insert the prepared service USB-stick ( see Chapter 8.2.3) into the USB slot at the
front of the monitor cart

 Wait for the acoustic signal of detecting the Service USB-stick

Switch to Config  Service Settings  Common

Depending on which file you want to upload to the system, choose

 Load dis8000.ini from USB Media


 Load ae_titel.new from USB Media
 Load vision.md from USB Media

Disconnect your service USB-stick and reboot the system to have to uploaded files take
effect

7.1.5. HOST-Software Update via CD-ROM

 Connect the Mobile Stand with the Monitor Cart

 As fallback if the update fails, save the machine parameter files

 Insert the prepared installation CD-ROM into the CD/DVD drive

 Switch to Config  Service Settings, and login with the standard password

 Press Continue

 Switch to Common menu and select Software Update

 Wait until the window message “Updating Software…” disappears

 Reboot the system

 To check if the installed Ziehm Vision Software Version corresponds to the used update
package, press at the Fluoro tab the X-Ray On symbol

Software Versions prior to Version 5.30.0 are not separated into SV, IB or TW. In such cases
the Software Version Window shows no suffix after the Software Version. The update
procedure identifies the hardware and firmware of the system during the update

After the HOST-software update is completely finished, update the CAN


modules to the identical software Version
 see Service Manual, chapter - Vision Studio

It is mandatory to have a Ziehm Vision Global Software Version shown


after the HOST-software and CAN-Software is updated to the identical
versions

Please reboot the system at least once with an installed Ziehm Vision
Global Software Version

7.2. Software Version ≥ 5.4x.x

7.2.1. Preparation USB-Stick

For Ziehm Host Software ≥ 5.4x.x the unzipped folder name is the name
of the included software e.g. “Host Software Version 5-40-0”

For Software Versions ≥ 5.40.0 the update folder which includes the
update files, is named ngis_vis in the root folder SW-Update

Packed files in either of these folders (e.g. ngis_mira, any, ngis_vis) must
not be further unpacked. During the installation procedure they will be
unpacked automatically

With Ziehm Vision Software 5.4x.x the unzipped folder name is the name
of the included software e.g. Host Software Version 5.40.0

Please take also note of the Readme.txt file, which is content of the
downloaded archive file. Additional information may be stated in there

 Double click on the opened /extracted folder

 Copy the sub-folder ngis_vis to your service USB-Stick in the root-folder SW-Update

The file VERSION can be opened with WordPad, Notepad, Notepad++ etc.
Within the plain text file, information about the Software Version, Build number,
Revision number, of the software in this folder is stated

 Connect the Mobile Stand with the Monitor Cart

 Switch the system ON

 Insert the prepared service USB-stick into the USB slot at the front of the monitor cart

 Wait for the acoustic signal of detecting the Service USB-stick

Saving the actual system settings of the system is only recommended if


the version of the system settings needs not to be updated after the
software update

Check chapter - System settings requirements, of the corresponding GTI


for the installed/updated software version, for required minimum system
setting version for the installed software version

 Switch to Config  Service Settings  MDATA

 Save the actual system settings of the system. For this purpose, enter any name into the
Name field e.g. Settings_prior_update, and press the SAVE button. The typed name

The Vision Studio Software is no longer available and required for Ziehm
Software Versions 6.xx.x

For Ziehm Software ≥ 6.xx.x the unzipped folder name is the name of the
included software e.g. “Global Software Version 6-07-0”

For Software Versions ≥ 6.xx.x the update folder which includes the
update files, is named any in the root folder SW-Update

Packed files in either of these folders (e.g. ngis_mira, any, ngis_vis) must
not be further unpacked. During the installation procedure they will be
unpacked automatically

With Ziehm Vision Software 6.xx.x the unzipped folder name is the name
of the included software e.g. Global Software Version 6.07.0

To prevent the system from stopping, interrupting or generating


errors during the automatic update procedure in any phase, it is
highly recommended that the update is carried out in two
separate steps

Step 1: Only the image memory of the monitor cart is updated in


so called stand-alone mode

Step 2: The mobile stand is updated

To archive this special workflow, in the first step the mobile stand
must be disconnected from the monitor cart

Step 1

 Switch the system OFF

 Disconnect the Mobile Stand from the Monitor Cart ( disconnect P0 cable )

 Switch the system ON

 Insert the prepared service USB-stick into the USB slot at the front of the monitor cart
