6. Maintenance
WARNING
6.1 General.
A regular program of systematic maintenance must be established for continuous,
proper operation of all HARTINDO AF! IE systems. A periodic maintenance schedule
must be followed and an inspection log maintained for ready reference. As a minimum,
the log must record : (1) inspection interval, (2) inspection procedure
performed, (3) maintenance performed, if any, as a result of inspection, and (4)
name of inspector performing task.
6.2 Preventive
Maintenance.
Perform preventive maintenance as

WARNING
Nozzles must never be painted. A part number is located on each nozzle. Nozzles
must be replaced by nozzles of the same part number. Nozzles must never be
interchanged since random interchanging of nozzles could adversely affect proper
HARTINDO AF11E distribution and concentration level within hazard area.
10. Inspect all manual pull stations for cracks, broken or cracked glass plates, dirt
or distortion. Inspect station for signs of physical damage. Replace damaged glass.
Replace station if damage is found. Clean if necessary.
11. Inspect pressure switches for deformation, cracks, dirt or other damage. Replace
switch if damage is found. Clean if necessary.
12. Inspect pressure switches for deformation, cracks, dirt or other damage. Replace
switch if damage is found. Clean if necessary.

3. Ensure all electric control heads have operated, (i.e., indicator on electric
control head has moved to the " RELEASED" position). If any control heads
have not operated, check circuit for electric continuity to these particular heads
and repeat test. Repeat test if any control heads have been replaced.
WARNING
WARNING
1. Remove any nozzles from piping to allow any foreign matter to blow
clear.
2. Remove all pressure operated heads from HARTINDO AFI lE cylinders.

3. Open distributing valves and keep open long enough to ensure cleanliness of
pipe.
4. Blow out all distribution piping with air or nitrogen to ensure that it is
not obstructed.
5. Reconnect all control
heads.
6.4.3 Retest.
Cylinders which are exclusively used in HARTINDO AF1 lE service which
are commercially free from corroding components are required to be hydrostatically
retested and restamped every five (5) years prior to recharge and shipment. An alternate
option is for an external visual inspection performed in lieu of the hydrostatic test at
the time the periodic retest becomes due. Therefore, the retest can be performed by
either of the following methods.
6.5.1 Cleaning.
Remove dirt from metallic parts using a lint-free cloth moistened with dry cleaning
solvent. Dry parts with clean, dry, lint-free cloth or air blow dry. Wipe non-metallic
parts with dry lint-free cloth. Remove corrosion with crocus cloth.

6.5.3 Repairs.
Replace all damaged parts found during inspection. Replacement procedures
for HARTINDO AFl lE cylinders are provided below. Since replacement for other
system components are similar, refer to installation drawings and HARTINDO AFI
IE system assembly drawings for guidance.

3.Immediately reconnect flexible discharge hoses or valve outlet adapters to cylinder
valve outlet ports.
4.Remove protection cap from master cylinder adapter port (if used) and
reconnect tubing to slave port on master cylinder. Tighten swivel nut.
5.Remove protection caps from HARTINDO AFl IE cylinder valve actuation ports.

6.Reinstall electric and pressure operated control heads with flexible actuation
hoses or tubing on cylinder valve actuation ports. Tighten swivel nuts.
7.If required, install supervisory pressure switches as instructed.
