Kara David who is the host of i-Witness documented the lives of students and teachers in Burgos
East Elementary School in San Guillermo, Isabella. The documentary showed that no matter how hard
life is, there are still people who believes that there is hope.

The documentary showed the perseverance of teacher to convince and influence students to continue
their studies. The documentary also showed the willingness of the students to go to school and learn
despite having a hard time. This documentary wants to express that if you really have that dream or
goal, you must pursue it regardless of hardships.

I am impressed how dedicated the teacher to his work and how much efforts he exerted just to
encourage his students. I have watched documentaries like this before and I am still amazed how the
students cope up with the struggles. I do agree, there are teachers who do not focus how much they will
earn rather, they value their profession and fulfill their sworn testament.

A lot of students have been interviewed and based on how they shared and expressed their emotions, I
felt sad and remember how hard my life is, before. I have been there, done that. I used to experience
what they have encountered in their lives. Let me share that time where I have to decide if I will
continue studying or support myself by working because I got family problem. Since, life was really hard
by that time I chose to work because I think it is way easier, and so I thought. It was hard, it really was. I
was persistent to earn money because I realized that I am getting old and I really want to finish my
studies. Jim Rohn once said that “If you do not like how things are, change them.” I believe that this
quotation is something that I can relate to the students at Burgos East Elementary School. Some of them
have been unmotivated because there are duties they need to fulfill. And despite of struggling, they
somehow manage to go in school. They are trying their best to change their situation. And still believe
that there is hope.

To sum it up, we should not let difficulties stop us from reaching our goals in life. There are people who
is rooting for us to be successful and reach our goals. We just have to continue conquering life. We are
all facing problems in life, it is just a matter of staying in the path with people who believed in us like
what is in the documentary title “Walang Maiiwan.”
