INTRODUCTION TO LEADERSHIP

Part I

The common direct answer when someone is being asked “What is a good leader?” is this “A
good leader must be smart, intelligent and bright.” So it means no need for an EQ or emotional
intelligence. In this topic Introduction to Leadership there is a change of how everyone
perceived this idea. A good leader must possess with not just IQ (intelligent quotient) but also
EQ (Emotional Quotient). Becoming a good leader is not easy however a good leader is made
and leadership can be learned.

Part II

Summary

There is a direct result if all of the following are learned: to name; Leadership Styles, Theories of
Leadership, Factors of Leadership, Leadership Principles, Leadership Qualities and Traits and
Leadership Concepts. This paper is grounded in the mentioned subtopics.

What is a good leader?

Reaction

A good leader must possess every kind of the six leadership styles accoding to Daniel Goleman.
To mention: one must be Visionary leader, a Coaching leader, an Affiliative leader, a
Democratic leader, a Pacesetting leader and a Commanding leader. Having all those cannot
happen overnight and it is not instant. This requires much time since every situation requires
different action and every problem requires specific solution. A good leader has to be flexible
and learning the different leadership styles is a great help because this will make a leader on
top of the situation.

The theories of leadership are brought into the situation because the traits and behaviors that
individuals can adopt can boost their own leadership status. In short this can be a philosophy
and guidance for a leader in handling different situation. Leadership theories can really help as
a guiding principle because they are concepts that needs to be acted upon and can be adopted
by many.
Application

The absence of the leadership qualities can cause so many struggle and stress. For a leader to
make a mark in the world of leadership. One has to have a good example for others to follow. I
know it is a big weight to carry but if there is commitment, passion, empathy, honesty and
integrity there is an exciting play because you will always at the top of every situation.

Part III

Conclusion

Leadership therefore is the ability to continuously influence a team of individuals to perform at


their best. A good leader is always putting the welfare of the individual team more than himself.
He is bound to serve and not to be served because servant leadership always accomplish
something best.
