WiBAS, the PtMP representation of the OSDR platform delivers IP connectivity in demanding heterogeneous
network (HetNet) backhaul applications by employing state-of-the art Point-to-MultiPoint (PtMP) technology.
WiBAS OSDR combines sophisticated QOS features and robust performance with a highly efficient operation.
OmniBAS is the all-outdoor microwave product family of OSDR which offers IP connectivity in Point-to-Point
(PtP); supports market-leading modulations up to 4096-QAM and employs advanced Ethernet and traffic
processing functionality to demonstrate exceptional microwave radio performance.
WiBAS OSDR-Hub,-TS and OmniBAS OSDR PtP use PoE (Power over Ethernet) via the electrical Ethernet
interfaces.
PtMP sector traffic aggregation and connectivity to the core network is achieved with the OmniBAS 8W Indoor
Aggregator, also referred to as CBAN (Converged Backhaul Aggregation Node)
Being compatible with OSDR OmniBAS, OSDR WiBAS and OmniBAS 8W; the uni-MS (Unified Management Suite)
can be used to manage and monitor PtMP, PtP and traffic Aggregator equipment (8W).

5. PtMP Architecture
Basic PtMP architecture attributes summarized below:
• One Main node per sector (WiBAS OSDR PtMP Hub)
• Many remotes (Up to 30 WiBAS OSDR PtMP Terminal Stations)
• Star Topology
• Clear LOS required between Main (Hub) and Remote (TS)
• No repeaters between Hub and TS

Due to the fact that with OSDR (Outdoor Software Defined Radio) the same physical hardware is used for Hub
and TS sites, it is critical to note that in the MTN network deployment plan the Hub will always use High ODU
while the Terminal Station will always use Low ODU.

Band Type
The PSU will connect to the normal 220V AC supply on site and insert the required DC voltage through the Cat5
cable. The PSU have two RJ-45 connections, one for traffic / management equipment (IN) and one for powering
the ODU (OUT).
Peripheral devices like laptops, routers, switches etc. should never be connected to the OUT port as the DC
voltage will damage the equipment.

• Ethernet connecters
• Surge protectors
• Required antenna type: polarization (vertical or horizontal) and frequency band (10 or 26 GHz)
• 1.5mm Allen key (Used when changing ODU polarization)
• 3mm Allen key (Used when changing 10GHz mounting plate polarization)
• Coaxial cable to connect between mounting plate and antenna (N-type M-M) for 10GHz only
• Greasing paste for O rings
Confirm polarization:

It should be noted that with OSDR the orientation of the RF protrusion does not align parallel or perpendicular
to the earth as is the case in many conventional equipment currently known.
WiBAS OSDR Mounting
The 10GHz OSDR and sectorial antenna will be installed separately. The OSDR is mounted to a mounting plate
that is secured to the structure. The Antenna and OSDR is interconnected with a coaxial cable.
The 26GHz OSDR will be attached directly to the mounting kit that is secured to the structure. The 26 GHz
sectorial antenna attaches directly to the OSDR.
WiBAS OSDR should be attached to hoisting connection as per below:
Extreme care should be taken to ensure that antenna height, azimuth and down-tilt requirements as set in the
planning document is strictly adhered to for every sector.

14.6. WiBAS 10GHz / 26GHz Terminal Station mounting with Parabolic Antenna
WiBAS OSDR Terminal Station connects directly at the back of the parabolic antenna. The antenna is secured to
the structure and the WiBAS OSDR is connected to the antenna. For 10GHz operation a 0.6m parabolic antenna
will be used while a 0.3 or 0.6m will be used for the 26GHz radios.
Securing the antenna to the structure
The antenna will be secured to the structure by using the standard mounting bracket that is shipped with the
antenna.
