Electrochemistry Project

Your assignment should be between 1 and 2 pages in length.

You will research and analyse health and safety issues involving electrochemistry.

In order to cover as many different topics as possible, each student in the class will work with a
different topic. Make sure you get your topic approved by your teacher before to ensure that none
of your classmates are already doing that one.

Some possible topics include the following:

 Safety devices that prevent corrosion of metal pipes in drinking water systems.
 Using electrochemistry in preventing structure degradation of bridges and roadways.
 Are health and safety hazards associated with waste generated by electroplating companies?
 Why do metal orthodontic braces not corrode?
 What are some of the toxic substances that can escape from electronic waste into the
environment?
 What are the potential effects of these poisons on our health?
