MEET RHEA

Founder & CEO

Rhea founded Ecoware in 2010 when there
was little awareness about the harmful
effects of plastic. Cheap oil prices had led
to a proliferation of plastic production and
usage. Yet, the devastation caused to the
natural environment and the harmful
effects on human and animal health went
unnoticed. There were no plastic bans or
any sort of incentives to change consumer
behavior. This is when Rhea decided to
disrupt the commoditsed packaging
industry by creating a natural and healthy
alternative to single-use plastics.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

Ecoware meets three UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as it seeks out impact driven results

As an organization founded and led by a woman, Ecoware gives huge importance to women empowerment. At least
30% of our workforce consists of women who were previously unemployed. We have monthly and quarterly meetings
to discuss their physical and mental health, general well being and financial literacy to ensure they are in control of
their own finances. We target hiring of women from local areas, preferably via referrals from current employees.

Ecoware makes products for a circular economy. Ecoware is made from the waste of common agricultural crops to create
single-use packaging that replaces plastic, thereby providing a sustainable alternative and an incentive for consumers and
businesses to give up plastic. By diverting plastic away from the natural environment and waterways, we closing the loop
on the consumption. Ecoware will degrade naturally within 100 days into compost that improves soil quality.

Air pollution due to crop stubble burning is a growing contributor to climate change. By using this same resource as a raw
material, we are decelerating climate change. The Ecoware process ensures farmers are monetarily incentivized not to burn,
to treat crop stubble as a resource and to sell it for conversion to biodegradable consumer products. Our production
process releases no gaseous, solid or liquid waste.
