Imagine a world, so silent, so dull. The lack of
vibrations from the melodic sounds,
emphasized by deafening silence and chasms
of emptiness. No voice can be heard.
No words can be seen.
Covid 19 pandemic has brought a lot of
challenges in the delivery of quality
education.
A huge transition has affected the teaching-
learning process. Learners have shifted from
the conventional face-to-face learning within
the four walls of the classroom to modular
distance learning in their particular homes.
OES was not an exemption. Learners have
had a hard time coping with the New Normal
Mode of learning.
Based on the School Reading Assessment
Result, it has been found that one of the
most affected learning skills is reading. The
school has been alarmed by the students’
reading performance, which resulted in
lengthy discussions among the faculty
members.

To aid out this adversity, OES CARES program
was formulated. Compassionate Assistance
for Reading Assessment Skills. A program
which aims to help enhance the reading
competence of struggling readers.
To realize and back up this undertaking, the
school tapped the Brgy. LGUs to work hand in
hand in bridging the gap between the school
and the community.
The Brgy. LGU gave its green light and gave
its full support to look for professionals who
are willing to volunteer and spare their time.
These volunteers guided by the teachers will
serve as mentors in their designated Learning
Community Spaces.

This is where the learning happens. Reading
and supplementary materials are utilized by
the mentors for the conduct of reading
tutorials and exercises.
To observe safety protocols, there is a
scheduled time for each struggling reader.

In order to monitor their progress, mentors
will submit weekly performance results to
the School Reading Coordinator.
They will also have an open communication
with the School Head and the concerned
 advisers of the said struggling readers.
