Cambodia Tribunal:
What is it?
It is a special mixed court, established in the Kingdom of Cambodia and with the support of
the international community represented by the United Nations (UN). He intends to bring the
surviving Khmer Rouge leaders to trial by the regime they established in the country between
1975 and 1979 under the name Democratic Kampuchea after their triumph in the
Cambodian Civil War (1970-1975). This regime is credited with the disappearance of one
million seven hundred thousand people1. The court was created in 2006. Between 2007 and
2008, the investigation and detention phase was carried out.
