Man: Were you born in the U.S., Hannah? Answers will vary. Some possible answers:
Hannah: Well, I grew up here, but I was born in Seoul,

Maria: Yes, I was. I was born right here in this town.
My brothers, my sister, and I were all born here in the
U.S., and we grew up here in Santa Fe.
Man: What about your parents?
Maria: They’re from Mexico originally, but they came
here a long time ago.
Man: What did your parents do in Mexico?
Maria: Well, my dad was a singer in a band. My mom
sang with them sometimes.
Man: Did you and your brothers and sister all go to college?
Maria: Well, my brothers are still in high school, but my
sister and I finished college.
Man: What was your major?
Maria: My major was drama, but I’m working as a
dance teacher.
Leo
Man: So, Leo, where are you from?
Leo: I’m originally from Rio, Brazil – I was born there –
but I moved to the U.S. about three years ago. My
parents came, too.
Man: So you grew up in Rio?
Leo: That’s right. I came here for college.
Man: What are you studying?
Leo: Math.
Man: What did your parents do in Brazil?
Leo: Well, my father was a math professor, but he’s
retired now. My mom is still teaching math at my
university here.
