Dear Sir/Madam;

Greetings of peace and Christian love!

We have sent this letter as per request by RIZA MAE CELIZ an active member and
publisher of our congregation and organization
Christmas is celebrated worldwide, even in many non-Christian countries but as a
member of Christian Jehovah’s Witnesses, we choose not to celebrate it or take part in
activities that are associated with Christmas because of its pagan origin. The Bible,
however, speaks favorably of giving gifts or inviting family and friends for a joyful meal
on other occasions. We are trained to be sincerely generous, instead of giving gifts
simply when socially expected to do so. (Matthew 6:2, 3).We are taught to be tolerant
and respectful, and this includes recognizing the right of others to celebrate Christmas.
In turn, we appreciate it when our decision not to participate in Christmas celebrations is
respected. A core right Filipinos are enjoying is freedom of religion. This fundamental
human right is guaranteed and protected under Article 3, Section 5 of the 1987
Constitution of the Philippines, allowing all people the liberty to exercise their
religious beliefs and practices without fear, prejudice, or interferences. This right
protects people from unwarranted demands, intrusions, or prohibitions in the
development of their personal religious life. It is the right to think, express and act upon
what he deeply believes, according to the dictates of conscience.
In line with this, we ask your considerate office to excuse Riza Mae Celiz to participate
in any Christmas related activities like wearing of any Christmas related costumes such
Christmas/Santa cap.
We look forward for a favorable consideration and understanding of her stand in the
said arrangement of your office.

Thank you and more power.

Respectfully yours,

LAWRENCE C. ADUCA
