Last April 14, 2018 my family and I went to Cebu Safari and Adventure Park to
visit the newest attraction at Carmen, Cebu.
In the morning, when we got there, there was a long line at the entrance.
While waiting for our turn to get in, the attendants briefed us about the park, their
rules, and regulations, etc. They handed us each a map of the whole park showing
their facilities, restaurants, refreshment areas, rest room, and safari adventures.
After we entered the zoo, we were amazed of how big and beautiful Cebu
Safari was. We saw a huge variety of plants, flowers, and orchids. Then we
experienced the thrill of an African Safari-like ride. We had an up close and personal
experience with the zebras, lions, tigers, orangutans, antelopes and many more.
At lunchtime, we stopped at the Safari’s restaurant. Good thing, we availed
their promo of a free lunch. Food was superb! Then we continued our tour around
the Safari. We experienced feeding birds, giraffes, and even alligators!
It was already late in the afternoon when we ended our Safari adventure. We
had a great time at Safari. It was really an experience of a lifetime.

Kawasan Falls is in Barangay Matutinao in the town of

Badian, Cebu. It is without doubt the most visited tourist attraction here in Badian.
Famous for its beautiful turquoise water, Kawasan Falls
sits at the foot of Mantalongon Mountain Range, approximately one kilometer from the
national road of Badian and at least four hours of trekking from Osmeña Peak of
Dalaguete. The cold and clear water cascades through layers of waterfalls coming from
Kandayvic Spring before going to Matutinao River and the Tañon Strait.

I am alarmed by the rising COVID -19 cases in the
Philippines. As of November 12, 2020, there were 402, 820 COVID cases in the
country.
Firstly, people should follow the health protocols to avoid being infected by
COVID 19. They should stay at home and must only go out if they have essential
things to be done just like hospitalization, check-up, groceries, work, etc.
Despite the many reminders from the local government and DOH, there are still
people who violate the quarantine protocols such as not observing social distancing
and not wearing masks
Therefore, the local government should never be laxed in implementing health
protocols. Safety protocols should always be observed at all times to stop the
spread of infection.

Can you hear me now! Do you know that every year, 18.7 million of acres of
forest is lost? That is more than 20 million football fields. So many forests are being
cut down and it is making the planet sick and posing threat to life on Earth. Cutting
down trees releases all the carbon dioxide they once stored. Carbon dioxide is a
greenhouse gas which traps heat from the Sun close to Earth’s surface, causing
global temperatures to rise and bringing about a process known as climate change.
Fewer trees also mean less rainfall and more drought; therefore, many more animals
and plants will face extinction as their homes are destroyed.
People should be taught the value of forests and the importance of caring them
and all life on planet earth. Being educated means to gather all the facts before
making decision. We hope that the facts are considered before making decisions.
We should all be responsible for taking good care of the earth.

Talima Dive Site:

Exploring and Searching for Treasures in the Ruins of the Sunken Boat
Starting off from Mactan Port, we took a boat to Talima Dive Site. I was so
happy because the weather was good. Talima Dive Site is in Olango Island.
We spent about 30-45 minutes riding towards Talima.
Deep down the dive site we were to expect to see the ruins of the
sunken boat. I felt like I was a pirate exploring the underwater looking for
treasures in the sunken boat.
We slowly descended down the sea water, I saw this pile of wood.
At first, I wondered what these pieces of wood were doing down here.
Later, I realized they were ruins of the sunken boat. The original structure of
the boat could not be seen anymore. The remnants were already inhabited by
some algae and some coral reefs. These served as an artificial reef
which benefited thousands of living organisms in the ocean.
My companions and I continued to swim and explore the depths… until
I saw the real treasures here in Talima.
Then, I saw some patches of corals and there are coral reefs we are to
see a lot of fishes. I was saddened at first because I saw only a few fishes.
But in a few seconds and to my great surprise, I saw a lot of fishes and many
of them were big fishes and other marine creatures. I was really mesmerized
by what I saw. It was an incredible sight!
Finally, I was done with my wrecking dive. This is one of my
memorable dives ever. Never would I have thought I could experience
something cool like this. As the day came to its end too, the blazing colors of
sunset made the day as beautiful as it was in the morning.

Dogs Make the Best Pets

When it comes to pets, dogs are certainly the
best choice. They are loyal, affectionate, and
active companions. No other choice of pet can
compete with a dog.
Firstly, dogs are incredibly loyal companions.
They see themselves as a part of the family and
will always be there for you, no matter what
happens. Secondly, they are extremely
affectionate animals. No other animal can show
their love when you arrive home at the end of the
day like a dog can. Thirdly, dogs are very active. This means that you can
always keep fit and healthy, taking your dog for walks and playing games
together.
For these reasons, dogs make the best pets. Other animals might have

Plastic Pollution

Did you know that every year 8 million

tons of plastic end up in our planet’s
beautiful blue oceans? And that’s seriously
bad news for our friends beneath the
waves…

Over 700 species of

marine animals have been reported to
have eaten or been entangled in plastic –
and scientists think that the amount of plastic in the ocean may triple by 2050!
But here is the good news – by understanding the issue and taking action, you
can help change the future and make our oceans a clean, safe place for our
wonderful wildlife!

The problem is that most of us use more plastic than we need to, and half
of the plastic we produce is designed to be used just once and chucked away.
This so-called ‘single-use plastic is used to make all kinds of items, such as
shopping bags, straws, food wrappers and various packaging. And because
plastic takes over 400 years to decompose (break down), it stays in the natural
world, causing damage, for a very long time.

Scientists think that a whopping 8.8 million tons of plastic end up in the
ocean every year. That is the same as stacking five plastic shopping bags of
rubbish on top of each other on every meter of coastline in the world! But how
does it all get there?

One way is through ‘ocean dumping, when people illegally tip large
amounts of waste directly into the sea. But not all plastic in the ocean is
dumped there on purpose. In fact, around 80% plastic in the sea comes from
the land….

Animals and birds can get trapped, tangled, and even strangled by all kinds of
plastic waste, such as discarded fishing nets and six-pack rings from drink
cans. They also mistake small bits of plastic, such as bottle tops and
wrappers, for food and gobble them up – leaving no room in their swollen
tummies for real food. And the problem does not end there… By working
together, our choices can help clean up the ocean – and make it a safe place
for our amazing marine life!
