q refers to “the process enabling fi nanc i al and
investment markets to operate internationally.”

q involves a wide variety of processes, opportunities,


and problems related to the spread of economic
activities among countries around the world .

q There are some significant downsides to globalize

trade and perhaps the strongest argument against


economic globalization is its lack of sustainability or
the degree to which the earth's resources can be
used for our needs, even in the future.

Economic Globalization
q In general, globalization decreases the cost of manufacturing. This
means that companies can offer goods at a lower price to
consumers. The average cost of goods is a key aspect that
contributes to increases in the standard of living. Consumers also
have access to a wider variety of goods.

q Specifically, the development of our world today by using the


earth's resources and the preservation of such sources for the
future is called sustainable development.

q The development that meets the needs of the present
without compromising the ability of future generations to
meet their own needs. (Shah, 2008)

q One significant global response to globalization is the


sustainable development , that seeks between economic
growth and sustainable environment. (Borghesi and Vercelli,
2008)
