The CIAK Project in the Inclusive School

1- QR CODE in the Inclusive School

1.1.- QR CODE (indicated for vision difficulties, reading difficulties, dyslexia)
The QR CODE methodology is very used today in people with special needs, from people
with reading difficulties, such as reduced language, Dyslexia, autism and also people with
visual impairment.
In this sense we created for the CIAK Project, these images with QR Code (in English and
Portuguese) that tells the history of cinema. Everyone can use this inclusive methodology to
know some details about the history of cinema to our days. This QR Code image presentation
was tested with 5 visually impaired persons. The various QR Codes were presented to the
visually impaired, each with their own smartphone, it was tested for two different mobile
operating systems: Symbian, and IOS. On the iPhone(iOS) smartphone, the screen reader
application "Voice Over" was used along with the QR Code reading application called "Bar
Scanner". On the smartphone using Symbian (Nokia's operating system) the screen reader
application "Talks" along with the QR Code reading application called "Bar Scanner" was
used. Although each system has its own barcode reader app, its use was similar on all
Students. Each person took a code, started the barcode reader app and pointed the device to
the code and soon got the answer: the description of the label was read by the smartphone and
then spoken by the device itself through the screen readers of each system. With this, all
visually impaired people of the two systems tested understood the information described in
the QR Code.
In the project this activity was presented to the students, where curricular and extra curricular
teachers could use it with their students with Special Needs, as well as with other students, as
it was an appealing and motivating activity. Only needs a Smartphone or tablet.
How to Create a QR Code using Youtube:
1- Record the audio
2- Convert it to MP4 or WAV format using HD Movie Maker

Cinema History: Using QR CODE
1.2- Also for students with Dyslexia and Attention Deficit Disorder letter-soup activities
are suitable. In this activity the students have to look for the words related to cinema and
cross out the wrong written word.

2. Using Games to learn

Playing is a characteristic activity of childhood. It is through this activity that the child
constructs its learning about the world in which it lives, the culture, the environment in which
it is inserted. Games are a small part of this construction activity of the child that is
transferred to the adolescent.
This awareness is due to theoreticians such as Piaget, Vigotsky, among others, who
contributed to a new process in the pedagogic work, idealizing new theories about what a
school should be and the importance of games in teaching/learning.
Based on these theoreticians, therein lies the motivation for the development of the computer
game, which can be used by all students, not only by those with Special Educational Needs.
For it is more than a tool, which by being motivating, is a more interesting way for the
student to meet and learn. To assimilate the knowledge that children with learning difficulties
will also be able to achieve the proposed objectives in the classroom through the game.
For the project, we propose a quiz game where students can test their knowledge.
2.1. History of cinema -Quiz Game
Computer games are very appealing to most students including those with special needs.
Students with attention deficit, learning difficulties and students with autism are motivated by
this kind of activity. For this project we created this Quiz game to consolidate knowledge
about the history of cinema.

3- History of cinema for Blind Students or low vision students: Adapted Version
Book about the history of cinema. Book adapted for children with special needs (Braille,
images with relief, easy reading, voice reading through QR).
Within the project, materials have already been created for children with blindness, the
history of cinema in Braille version with images in high relief,
3.1 .Ativity with Braille Alphabet
Encoding the message
using the alphabet BRAILLE, write your name and the message "I like cinema".
My name is…

I like cinema

4- Comunicacion with pictograms: Austism and Cerebral Palsy Students

AraWord is a freely distributed computer application consisting of a word processor that

allows the simultaneous writing of text and pictograms, facilitating the development of
augmentative communication materials, the development of accessible curricular materials,
and the adaptation of documents for people who have difficulties in the field of functional
communication and reading and writing.
