In your own words, answer the following questions briefly and concisely.
1. Explain the two major uses of language test !
 Education: as sources of information for making decisions within the
context of educational programs. The language test is used for know exactly in
what language program or course the student needs to register.
 Research: as indicators of abilities or attributes that are of interest in
research on language, language acquisition, language teaching. The language
test is used for research that needs qualified data about language ability.
2. Why feedback is essential in language program/course?

 It helps them see their learning in new ways and gain increased satisfaction from
it
 It helps promote dialogue between staff and students.
 It guides students to adapt and adjust their learning strategies
 It guides teachers to adapt and adjust teaching to accommodate students’
learning needs
 It guides students to become independent and self-reflective learners, and better
critics of their own work
 It stimulates reflection, interaction and dialogue about learning improvement
 It is constructive, so that students feel encouraged and motivated to improve
 It has consequences, so that it engages students by requiring them to attend to
the feedback as part of the assessment

3. What decision can be made based on “Aptitude Test”?


 To decide if they have no prior training or language knowledge.
 To indicate whether a students is likely to learn a second language readily.
 To determine and measure the students’ skill or ability and cognitive
capacity in language.
