Safety Precautions

Thunderstorms
High temperature
Do not work with electrical current or work in elevated or exposed locations during a thunderstorm.
If the ambient temperature reaches 55°C, the surface temperature of an OAU 2A may exceed 70°C.
Therefore, wear protective gloves when handling the OAU 2A. A high-temperature warning label ( ) is
Extreme weather conditions attached to each OAU 2A.

OAU 2A is usually installed outdoors. If weather conditions are extreme during an installation, personnel
should follow the related local guidelines and regulations to safeguard personal health and safety. Handling of OAU 2A or mounting kits

Wear clean gloves when handling the OAU 2A or mounting kits.

Elevated locations

OAU 2A is usually installed in an elevated location, for example, on the rooftop of a building. For installation Lasers
in elevated locations, installation personnel must:
Do not look into an optical port without eye protection.
• Have the proper training and qualifications, and meet health requirements.
• Wear helmets, safety belts, and anti-slip footwear.
Corrosion
• Wear clothing and gloves appropriate to weather conditions.
• Work in teams of two or more. Anti-corrosion measures are required if an OAU 2A is installed in a location that is prone to corrosion. Contact
• Test hoisting tools before use. the local Huawei office for details. A location is prone to corrosion if it is:
• Avoid installation during extreme weather conditions, such as during thunderstorms, blizzards, or gales. • Within 3.7 km of an ocean or a salt water lake
In addition, all site visitors must wear helmets. • Within 3 km of a heavy pollution source, such as a smelting factory or coal mine
• Within 2 km of a medium pollution source, such as a chemical, rubber, or electroplating plant
• Within 1 km of a light pollution source, such as a food/leather processing plant or heating boiler
Microwave

High-power radio frequency signals are harmful. Avoid exposure to transmission from the antennas of Local rules and regulations

Unpacking
Moving and hoisting heavy objects
To prevent water vapor from accumulating inside the device:
To move or hoist heavy objects, use appropriate equipment and adhere to the following guidelines: • After unpacking an OAU 2A, power it on within 24 hours.
• All personnel should wear helmets and protective clothes, gloves, and shoes.
• Do not power off an OAU 2A for more than 24 hours during maintenance.
• Move heavy objects along a flat obstacle-free path.
• Do not lift heavy objects by hand. Use appropriate equipment instead.
• When items are hoisted, ensure that those standing nearby are safe from falling objects.
• Use hoisting tools properly. Do not exceed load allowances to prevent damage to pulleys or slings.

electric arc or sparks, which may cause fire or eye injury. If a service port is not in use, remove the cable from it and plug it with a waterproof block.
•Connect the power cables correctly to the positive and negative terminals of the power supply device (see circled No.1 in
the figure below). To prevent damage to power cables or devices caused by short-circuits, install a circuit breaker on the
negative terminal of the power supply device (see circled No.2 in the figure below). The recommended fuse capacity is 10

•Do not connect the OAU 2A to an AC power supply device. Otherwise, the OAU 2A may be damaged.
•Do not connect the RTN 320 to a DC power supply device providing power beyond the range of –38.4 V to –57.6 V.
Otherwise, the RTN 320 may be damaged.

Precautions for Local Maintenance

When the OAU 2A is installed on a self-supporting tower, maintenance personnel cannot performance off-tower maintenance through WLAN, because the OAU 2A is installed at a high position.
It is recommended that an outdoor network cable be added to connect the GE/NMS port. This network cable must be to a signal surge protector to enable local maintenance indoors. During local maintenance, you can
connect a PC to the output end of the signal surge protector to access and maintain the NE using the Web LCT.

 If the GE (e) port is connected to an outdoor network cable for local maintenance, you need to set the GE (e) connected to the Web LCT as an NMS port by using the NMS, or
configure the network adapter of the PC to enable the PC to receive and transmit IP packets carrying DCN VLAN IDs.
 For the RTN 320, either the NMS/GE port or the independent NMS port can be connected to a network cable for connection to the NMS, but they cannot both be connected to
a network cable.
 Use a ground clip to ground the outdoor network about 0.5 m to 1 m away from the equipment room before leading the cable into the equipment room.

Use a box cutter to strip off a section of the cable sheath. Take care not to damage the shield layer.

Two types of terminals (ground bar terminal and U-shaped terminal) are available for a ground clip.
Select a terminal as required.

B Important Notes

11 Ensure that the maintenance compartment and USB port compartment are tightly closed. • Alignment scopes are high-precision devices for alignment. Before an aiming telescope leaves the factory, parts
between the eye lens tube and the prism table as well between the objective lens tube and the prism table have
undergone necessary anti-loosing treatments. Any rotating operation or disassembly among the eye lens tube,
objective lens tube, and prism table will weaken or even eliminate the effect of the treatments.
12 Verify that all devices are intact and do not have any paint defects or damage. If a device • The fitting surface of the aiming telescope is treated by the grinding process, which ensures the coaxiality of the

scratch or burr to avoid a decrease in alignment precision.
• As the support plate is closely fitted with the objective lens tube with a locking ring, the locking ring needs to be
loosened if you attempt to rotate the objective lens tube for adjustment. After the adjustment is complete,
immediately tighten the locking ring to prevent redundant substances from entering the fitting space. It is advised to
loosen the locking ring less than one circle.
• To loosen the locking ring, grasp the objective lens tube tightly with one hand, and grasp and rotate the locking ring
with the other hand. Avoid applied moment between the prism table and the locking ring.
• Avoid removing the support plate from the objective lends tube.
