RESEARCH FORMAT
PRELIMINARY
SECTION
- these are the pages that come before the main body of your project or
research work. Before your project supervisor approves or accepts your
project report, your preliminary pages should be in order and well written.
1.) TITLE PAGE
The title page is the first page of your research paper, and
therefore it is important to have a well-formatted title page that
clearly represents your paper. This page should include all the
information necessary for a reader to identify the contents of the
article and its author(s).
2.) APPROVAL SHEET
-This is to prove that the authors have passed the
requirements needed for the research

-This is signed by the research adviser, panel

-This also states the grade obtained by the author.

3.) THE PREFACE
- The preface for a research paper is the way an academic scholar
introduces himself to the readers. A Preface is a small introduction
written by the author of a research paper to share the basic idea and their
writing experience with readers. The preface is written in the initial part
of the dissertation. .
4.) ACKNOWLEDGE PAGE
-Acknowledgements enable you to thank all those who have helped in
carrying out the research. Careful thought needs to be given concerning
those whose help should be acknowledged and in what order. The
general advice is to express your appreciation in a concise manner and
to avoid strong emotive language.
5.) TABLE OF CONTENTS
-The table of contents is where you list the chapters and major
sections of your thesis, dissertation, or research paper, alongside their
page numbers. A clear and well-formatted table of contents is
essential, as it demonstrates to your reader that a quality paper will
follow.
6.) LIST OF TABLES, FIGURES ETC.
A list of figures and tables compiles all of the
figures and tables that you used in your thesis or
dissertation, along with their corresponding page
numbers. These lists give your reader an overview
of how you have used figures and tables in your
document.
7.) APPENDICES
-An appendix contains supplementary material that is not an
essential part of the text itself, but which may be helpful in
providing a more comprehensive understanding of the research
problem or it is information that is too cumbersome to be included
in the body of the paper.
8.) BIBLIOGRAPHY
-A bibliography is a list of books and other source material
that you have used in preparing a research paper. Sometimes
these lists will include works that you consulted but did not
cite specifically in your assignment.
9.) REFERENCES
- allows you to acknowledge the contribution of other writers and
researchers in your work. Any university assignments that draw on the
ideas, words or research of other writers must contain citations.
Referencing is also a way to give credit to the writers from whom you
have borrowed words and ideas.
