Ward 3 has a special election for City Councilor on August 2

For experienced, independent leadership, vote for ARNIE LEVINSON

In 1973 I began my orthodontic career right here in Northampton in the Central Chambers building. I managed a busy staff in multiple locations, serving thousands of clients in the region over the course of my career. Fifteen years ago my wife Marilyn and I moved to Hancock Street. We loved the vibrant downtown location. As the years passed, however, we noticed some trends that concerned us, and as the leader of the Ward 3 Neighborhood Watch, I have heard similar concerns from other residents. Now recently retired, I hope to earn your vote to be a full-time City Councilor for Ward 3. Please see the other side of this card for my positions on important issues facing the ward, and visit www.arnielevinson.com for more in-depth information.

Dont forget to register to vote by July 13!

My Areas of Focus for Ward 3

Our Roadways: Retailers tell me our roads are so bad its hurting business. Repair is urgently needed. Bridge Street School: This anchor of our downtown community must stay open. Sustainable Northampton Plan: Infill should be managed to preserve valuable downtown greenspace, avoid parking shortages, and honor the character of our neighborhoods. The Fairgrounds: I want the redevelopment there to succeed, but stormwater management issues need to be resolved so neighbors dont suffer. The Meadows: This has been a productive agricultural zone since the earliest days of the city not primarily a recreation area. Farmers are right to be concerned about the safety of the public around heavy farm equipment. Traffic Calming: Too many trucks stray onto our narrow residential streets, and its time to tame the speeding cars. Island Road: The Oxbow Marina is a valuable asset for the ward and the city, but traffic there undeniably affects its neighbors. I will work hard to find compromises here. Walter Salvo House and Cahill Apartments: I admire how Angela Plassmann, our former City Councilor, made a special effort to listen to and advocate for the less powerful. In particular, she was able to achieve improvements for residents in the citys Housing Authority properties. I pledge to build on this work.

Arnie and Marilyn Im proud to endorse Arnie Levinson for City Council. He has the maturity and experience needed to be an effective advocate for residents. Michael Bardsley,
