Consideration in the structural investigation/design of Anchor Bolt.

We provide here some

information regarding the G8.8 material specification used to Anchor Bolt: G as a symbol for Anchor
Bolt Grade (Class); the first number "8" is correspond to the particular bolt that has the minimum Fu
(Ultimate Tensile Stress) of 800mpa; the next ".8" or "0.8" will corresponds to that ratio of Fy (Yield
Stress) and of Fu. When looking for the equivalent American Standard for Testing Material (ASTM)
the value of 800mpa is likely the A325 or A325M Bolt with Fy of 600mpa (nearest value). This is
when we use the ratio stated earlier as 600/800=0.8 for the specific bolt. The higher value for High-
Strength Bolt especially used for connector bolt is G10.9 equivalent to A490 or A490M (ASTM),
gaining the maximum Ultimate Tensile Stress of 1040mpa for Fu and the Fy value of 940mpa and this
is equal to 0.9 ratio (or 940/1040).
