As a regional resource for pediatric care, our patients have seamless access to this higher level of care, including access to leading subspecialist pediatric physicians, when needed.

Design Goals
RWJ Hamilton continually strives to create environments that promote family-centered care. Our interior design for the pediatric emergency department is infused with beautiful colors and textures, safe materials, and family-controlled illumination. We have engaged the expertise of our emergency team to help us create an environment that is ecient for them to care for their patients. Private rooms are generous in size, comfortably accommodating patients, caregivers and families in three zones. Each room is furnished with a pull-down desk and internet access, as well as sleeping accommodations for families to allow parents to comfortably remain with their child for the duration of their stay.

Smart Investing
RWJ Hamiltons new Pediatric Emergency Department answers an identied community need to support families who require immediate access to pediatric emergency care. Treating 8,000 children annually in one of the busiest emergency departments in the region, RWJ Hamilton is investing in this new, dedicated location to create a family centered approach to emergency care. The development of this project is another step in the continued investment and expansion of our beautiful Hamilton campus and a demonstration of our commitment to our community.

Project Scope
This project utilizes an existing asset of ground oor space for new pediatric treatment rooms and supporting spaces, as well as the addition of a new entry vestibule and new link corridor for patient transport from the existing emergency department. We will design eight new pediatric treatment rooms as well as the required support spaces. A later phase of the project will add a new patient entry and a dedicated ambulance entrance, and support spaces including waiting, registration, and an EMT oce, and various exterior renovations.
