A Passion for Success

Galileo Galilei said that “Passion is the genesis of genius”. And what is your conception of
this quote? What do you know about passion? Do you think we should be passionate about
something to be more successful? Do you know the power of passion? Alright, most of us
have known passion is a strong feeling or emotion. In Greek, they said passion is “to suffer, to
be acted on” but, passion is suffering, it is a feeling of intense enthusiasm towards or
compelling desire for someone or something in Latin. In modern-day, people have been
definite, passion is a key to success, the fuel, and one of the main reasons is that when we feel
passionate about what we are doing, and what we want to achieve, we will absolutely take
necessary intentional actions, no matter how it difficult or unlikely to make our goals as a
reality. Being passionate can gives us a reason to keep learning, work, travel, and have new
experiences of happiness. It gives us purposes and self-confidence. Author Moe Shin said
“Without any passion, you can’t achieve any goal and become successful. So do you agree
with that?

Alright, I have told you about passion and its benefits. Have you ever seen or heard any
person who had been passionate about something and it turned into success? I hope all of you
might know that kind of person. Here I would like to share with you, the man who followed
his passion and became a success. I have choosed a person from India who has known as a
mountain man. He is Dashrath Manjhi who has known as Mountain Man and Indian people
regarded him as a legend who proved that passion can help us to achieve goals which others
people said impossible. He was born to a poor family in the lowest caste family in Gahlour
village near Gaya in Bihar district in India. His life gives a moral lesson that a small man,
who has no money, no power, can challenge a mighty mountain. He has carved the mountain
with a hammer alone for 22 years. When he started hammering the hill, the people from his
village and even his father called him a lunatic. But his hard-worked and passion for his
village became the constructed him is used by the villagers now.

Sometime unintended cause make us to passionate on something. It goes the same to Maniji,
the reason why he was passionate to demolish mighty mountain was because of his wife. The
story is like that. One day his wife, who was heavily pregnant, was taking the lunch for him to
the field where he worked for which she need to climb the mountain in the scorching heat.
How her love was strong for his husband. Unfortunately, her foot got slipped and fell down
while Manjhi was waiting for his lunch. Someone from the village alerted him that his wife
has fallen from the mountain. He ran into a panic and took his blood-splattered wife to the
nearest hospital that was away 70kms away from his village, where his wife was brought
dead, but she gave birth to a baby for heartbroken Manjhi, who loved his wife more than
everything else in the world, began cursing the huge mountain and vowed to bring it down
and break its ego. He decided to carve paths so that no other person suffers like his wife.
Villagers and even his father ridiculed him for challenging the huge mountain. But he was
stubborn about his firm decision. He carved it every day and burnt it to carve it. With no
water, no food, he was forced to eat and drink dirty water and eat leaves single-handedly
carved out a 360 feet long, 30ft high, and 30 feet, mountain. This how his passion pursue to
do an incredible actions

Finally, in1982, his years 22years of toil and labor bought a new morning when the
government roped in him to make the road by carving the mountain. He made a different
difference in villages by shortening the 55kms distance to 15kms. In 2006, his name was
proposed for Padma Shri Award in the social service sector. This is what his passion give
which he worthy.

At last I want to say, there are many famous people who followed their passion and became
successful in the world. Today I have shared about a man from India who changed his village.
Passion is also the fuel for success and it take us to joyfulness and make us to trust ourselves
and to accept the mysterious challenge. I am sure this is the power of being passionate about
something. I would like to say if he can change his community with his passion, why we can’t
also change our passion into success. And now I would like to close my speech with a quote
by” Conor McGregor, he said to be passionate about your strength, be optimistic, be grateful.’
