Persebaran tanah lunak di Indonesia cukup merata,

melihat luasnya daerah tanah lempung yang dimiliki
hampir di setiap pulau.
BIOSEMENTATION
EFFECT Microbial-induced calcite precipitation
(MICP) is a process that uses naturally
occurring bacteria to bind soil particles
together through calcium carbonate (CaCO3)
precipitation

It is a promising new technology in the area

of Civil Engineering with the potential to

become a cost-effective, environmentally
friendly, and sustainable solution to many
problems such as ground improvement,
liquefaction remediation, enhancing
properties of concrete, and so forth.

growth mediA

The most commonly used urease

bacteria in past studies are Bacillus
subtilis, S. pasteurii, Spoloactobacilus,
Clostridium, and Desulfotomaculum.

Bacillus subtilis culture

culture was carried out on B4 medium
with the following composition:
Urea 20 gr,
Nutrient Broth 3 gr,
NaHCO3 2.12 grams,
CaCl2.2H2O 4.14 gr
NH4Cl 10 grams.

Bacterial Growth Test

To determine the growth of bacteria,

turbidimetric testing was carried out.
Turbidimetric testing is testing the number
of bacterial cells contained in a solution by
measuring the level of turbidity of the
solution expressed in Optical Density (OD).

CURI NG EFFECT Translation results
Biocementation is the continuous Soesanto (2008) Bacillus subtilis
improvement of soil as long as soil bacteria can survive in nutrient-poor
nutrients are still available soils by turning into endospores and
can survive for 6 years and can divide
The ripening period has an important role again.
in increasing the strength of the soil. if nutrients are available again this
The longer the curing period the increase means precipitation of CaCO3
will continue to occur can continue to occur and the increase
in soil strength will continue as long as
the nutrients needed by bacteria are
still available in the soil.

According to Mujah (2019) the addition

of nutrients to the soil can again
increase the availability of bacteria in
the soil

EFFECT OF TEMPERATURE ON
MECHANI CAL BEHAVI OR

Research by Ng et al
(2012) regarding the subsurface
temperature, it was found that the
urease activity leading to the rate of
CaCO3 crystals increased with
increasing temperature
