Properties
PELTEC® BH is a slightly anionic soaking auxiliary with good wetting and fat emulsifying properties.

Soaking

Because of its good wetting action and its ability to efficiently dissolve soil and emulsify grease, PELTEC® BH
accelerates the soaking process and ensures a good, uniform plumping of the skins during soaking.
Owing to its characteristic properties, PELTEC® BH protects the raw material against soaking damage. It
prevents loss of hide substance and putrefaction stains, thus helping to avoid loose grain.

The use of PELTEC® BH permits soaking of dried, hard natured raw materials without any risks in soaking at
elevated temperatures of 30 - 35°C, which considerably facilitates full penetration of the caked collagen fiber
structure.

This makes the product also suitable for soaking under tropical conditions. It has excellent resistance to hard
water, which means that there is no risk of precipitation of the soaking agent in the soak due to reaction with
the substances causing water hardness. In the treatment of salted and dried raw material, the addition of
PELTEC® BH produces cleaner pelts, facilitates removal of the fine hair, reduces the soaking time, and
protects the hide substance.

Liming

PELTEC® BH ensures a rapid and uniform penetration of the liming agent, and an improved loosening of the
scud facilitates the beamhouse work.

PELTEC® BH

Application
PELTEC® BH is diluted at a ratio of 1:3 to 1:5 and added into the float. To ensure a good wetting back effect
of the hides a float length of at least 100 % in the process is necessary.

The use of PELTEC® BH is not restricted to certain pH-values. When treating extremely hard raw material,
the soak may therefore be additionally sharpened with an appropriate amount of alkali. These sharpening
agents should preferably be added into the float, already containing PELTEC® BH.
We cannot rule out the possibility of the forming of minor sedimentation. However, if this occurs, it does not
affect the product quality.
