A Forward targeting reference point. The


center of the steering wheel appears to line
up with the target. Used to visualize the path of D
travel, guide car, and CENTER lane position. C E

Used to guide the car while backing. G
Left side reference point. The line to the
C left of the car appears 1 foot from the
left edge of the hood when the car’s left side is
3-6 inches from the line. Used for left tire

tracking path, LEFT lane position reference, and
side position for left turn.

D Right side reference point. The line to the
right of the car appears to be in the center
of the hood when the car is 3-6 inches from
the line. Used for right tire tracking path, RIGHT
lane position, and parking 3-6 inches from a curb.

E The line to the right of the car appears to be J


in the middle of the right side of the hood
when the right side of the car is 3 feet from the
line. Used for side position for right turn, and
side position for parallel parking. I

F The line to the right of the car appears to
be on the right edge of the hood when the
car is 6 feet from the line. Used for the side
position for angle parking.

When the line in front of the car appears to be just in front of the front bumper, the front of
G the car is about 15 feet from the line. Used for a staggered stop position.
