LGBTQ aspects that is
adressed in the film
Gay-washing
gay-washing : portraying
heterosexual characters in
fiction as gay.
gay-washing could make the
movie interpretations amiss
toward the audience
even though the producer is
homosexual, the actors are
straight -> didn't give more
opportunity to trans actors.
Armie Hammer and Timothée

Chalamet both identify as straight

in real life, but under the Italian

sun and in full eighties garb they

made the sadly doomed romance

between Oliver and Elio sing.

Luca Guadagnino says the criticism around

straight actors playing gay characters in Call Me

By Your Name is "dull" and "preposterous".

feelings, and accepting LGBTQ

orientation as a teenager.
Misrepresentation
- white people often used as a
representation of the LGBTQ community.

- people of color didn't used in media as the

representation of the LGBTQ community

-Elio is portrayed as a white person who

comes from a privileged family.

portray specific moment in a

person's life, during which he

really becomes someone through

the other people he meets."

Name" to LGBTQ
Community

LGBTQ community' identity + so

that they're not afraid to express

their identity
