Background of The Study
Translation becomes very crucial in every aspect of
society. From medicine, entertaiment, arts etc. in
order to fully comprehend the context of the term.

Newmark (1998) stated that translations is a

“process of rendering the meaning of a text
into another language in a way that the author
intended the text”

When translating a film, there are
theories and processes that the
translator need to use to make an
equivalent and logical translation.
According to Venuti (2000) a
language shift is “the change
from formal correspondence in
the process of translating from
the source language to the target
language”.
There are two major types which are
level and category shift. Category
shift are: structure shift, class shift,
unit shift, and intra-system shift. The
most common shift in the movie
