Is important to emphasise that the reading approach (1930) and the audio-lingual

approach (1940) are perspectives that solely focus on the funcionality of language but not
in the aquisition. The most important difference between them is the purpose of teaching
and their content. In the Reading approach their students must pass the tests, so this is
their main goal for them. Consequently their content is useful and learning by heart, such
as memorise lists of vocabulary. Whereas in the Audio-lingual their learners have to
develop communication skills accurately, so they neglect the grammar and the reading
mostly.

For me the approach most closely is the reading approach, because I believe is very
important to develop the reading how media of knowledge, with this the students interact
with the culture and the differents forms of a language in differents kinds of books, such as
literature, history or philosophy. Also because, the students can improve their analytical
skills when they recognise differents linguistic expressions.
