Report 2 – Instructional Components
Instructional Goal Statement

My instructional goal statement comes from the ISTE for educators standards – specifically

standard 2.6 which focuses on the facilitator. 2.6.d - Model and nurture creativity and creative

expression to communicate ideas, knowledge or connections.

Performance Objectives

When it comes to the performance objectives, I made sure to think about and utilize the

acronym SMART. This stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound.

All chosen goals meet these guidelines.

The students will be able to:

 Create a ClassTag account

 Connect the account to their GoogleClassroom

 Send an announcement to families

 Send a message to a family

Instructional Sequence

When it comes to this lesson, the students will have to go in sequential order. This means

for example, they cannot send a message to family without creating accounts. To begin, I will

have the learners to sign into ClassTag by going to www.classtag.com. Once there, they will

navigate to the sign in button. On the screen once loaded, they will see sign in options. They will

be directed to sign in with Google. We are a Google for Education district so all teachers have

Google accounts. Once in, they will be directed to create a class on ClassTag so they may

connect it to their Google Classroom. After connecting, they will create an announcement to

send out to all families. This will be done by going to the orange plus button on the top right of
the page. Then click on the link that says announcement. They will be instructed to complete the

necessary information. If they would like, they can schedule the announcement to send at a later

time. Once they are done creating, they can send the announcement. The next objective is to send

a message to a family. This can be done by going to the button to the left of the orange plus

button. This is a purple button with a speech bubble. From there, they can create a message two

ways. One is click create new message on the left the other is to click on start conversation that is

located a little off center of the page.

Pre-Instructional Activities

For the most part, this group of students are well versed when it comes to technology.

They know the basic skills and to some extreme, they know some advanced things as well. Some

of the basic things they would need to know prior to this workshop would be basic computer

skills and how to use the world wide web. They should also have access to their Google account

which should not be difficult since we use it on a daily basis.

Prior to instruction, they are also coming from another platform that they no longer

approve of so making this switch, they are looking for a better success rate and more peace.

Strategies for Teaching the Objectives

When it comes to strategies, I will be using modeling for sure. I will have a demo account

that I will be logged into on the Aquos (similar to promethean) board for the learners to be able

to follow along on their devices as well. Active learning will also be incorporated because

student will be doing as I do. There will be some gradual release weaved into the lesson as well

with I do, you do, we do. When it comes to the lesson on creating and sending announcements, I

will go first and model how to create an announcement. Then, I will involve my audience to
perform we do portion of it. I will then release my learners to work on the creation of a message

on their own for you do.

Media Selections and Rationales for Delivery of Instruction

There are some materials that will be needed to be successful with this lesson. Those

materials are access to the internet, a device that has the world wide web, Google account and

GoogleClassroom access. This program is very web based.

Pre and Post Tests – Formative Data that will be used during instruction

There is not a pretest of instruction only a posttest. Reason being, they have to be able to have an

account and be able to maneuver the platform and that is the whole purpose of the

lesson/workshop. The posttest is for all the learners to add me to their classroom and send me a

message as well as an announcement from their created accounts.

Sample assessments for each objective

As an assessment, I would have the teachers to submit me screenshots of 5 different

pages. Each screenshot should be a reflection of the objective. See below for each assessment.

Learners would be responsible for sending me a screenshot of each of the following objectives.

1. Create a ClassTag account and Connect to

GoogleClassroom. The green dot next to

the class name on the top left indicates that

a Google Classroom is connected.

2. Send an announcement to families

3. Send a message to a family

Information and example for each objective

 Create a ClassTag account

o Self explanatory. In order to complete the other objectives of the day, the teachers

will have to create an account on the platform.

 Connect the account to their GoogleClassroom

o Connecting to GoogleClassroom helps when it comes to parent information

especially if the parent is connected to google classroom already.

 Send an announcement to families

o Sending an announcement to everyone is quick and easy. Rather you want to

announce about picture day coming up or send pictures of today’s cool activities,

sending a message is easy

 Send a message to a family

o If you want to tell one family about the great day their child had, this can be done

by simply going to send a message. Here, you can select individual people

whereas with message, the whole class receives it.
