PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

Have a Great Day!

Greetings! It is hard to believe that is September and leaves are turning for fall. I hope everyone had a great summer and are ready for a great RAIP year. We have a number of upcoming events. First and foremost is our membership picnic Tuesday. Remember to invite your insurance friends, associates, and acquaintances. Come prepared to have a great time. If you have not RSVPed please consider coming and let Katy know. The 70th Annual Convention for NCAIW is October 21-23, 2010 at the Holiday Inn Resort Wrightsville Beach. Think seriously about attending. It is close to home and would give you an idea of what goes on at convention. I will bring extra registration information to the meeting. There have been proposed by-law changes. Every member should have received copies. I will bring copies to this meeting so we can review and discuss at the October meeting. NAIW has new on line continuing education service that provides unlimited programs for only $27 for the whole year. Visit the NAIW web site for the link to the web site and more details. Check it out. Lastly, NAIW has issued a challenge for each member to get a new member. Lets work towards that goal! See you all Tuesday. Beth Crouch Blackwell, AAI, CPIW President RAIP

Raleigh Association of Insurance Professionals can help employers find valuable employees and help those seeking employment opportunities find those employers! We would encourage our members to pass my contact information along to their employers and HR Managers so that they can notify me when a position opens up. We need our members to help promote the use of our service for connecting employees & employers. I would be happy to send a request directly to their employers if they can provide me with the contact name and email address. These are tough times for everyone so we need everyone at RAIP to do what we can to bring people together.

Attorney General Roy Cooper Alert

Stay safe from storm scams, price gouging
We hope that Hurricane Earl stays well out at sea. But since the storm is expected to come close to the North Carolina coast, take the time to read the following tips for consumers:

Avoid storm scams Read tips on avoiding con artists wholl use natural disasters as an excuse to rip you off.

Report price gouging North Carolinas strong price gouging law is now in effect. Learn how the law protects you, and how to spot and report price gouging.

Know your rights on beach rentals and hotel reservations If Hurricane Earl is threatening your Labor Day vacation plans, learn what your rights are if youve rented a beach house or booked a hotel room.

Attorney General Roy Cooper Alert

Dislike Being Scammed? Avoid This Fraud on Facebook Attorney General Roy Cooper is warning users of the popular social networking site about a trick that can give scammers access to information in users profiles. Facebook has a feature that allows users to indicate that they Like something that appears on the website, such as a post or photograph. Scammers figured out that users also want to be able to indicate when they dont like something on the website. The scammers are luring users to click a link to download an official dislike button. The message containing the link appears to have been sent by a friend, but it was actually generated automatically when the friend fell for the scam. There is no official dislike button, and clicking the link can extract the users personal information and give it to the scammers. Avoid clicking on suspicious links whether they appear in emails or on websites. Remove suspicious applications (apps) from your Facebook profile if you think you might have been deceived into loading them. Remove all references to them from your Facebook features (status, News Feed, Likes and Interests) so you dont accidentally encourage someone else to click that suspicious link. This message brought to you on behalf of North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper.
