Grow your own teeth
A team of scientists has made an exciting breakthrough in dentistry. They say they
have created a device that can make human teeth grow back. The device, which they
have tested on rabbits, monkeys and humans, fits into a patient’s mouth and gently
massages the gums, where the teeth are attached. This movement stimulates growth
by encouraging protein and blood production. However, it can’t create enamel, which
is the hard, white covering of the teeth. Patients can control the device, which is
smaller than a pea, with a tiny camera. It could be commercially available in less than
two years.
