Reflection on Self

The experience in the Master’s program has required me to see my role as a teacher in

another way. I do consider myself a new teacher still as Covid-19 hit, my teaching had gotten

less and learning has gotten more attention. In other words, I am constantly learning new things

and ideas to better assist my students. Overall, my action research has brought to my attention on

how much students needs are being meant and how as a teacher I am still learning galling side

with them.

My focus for my action research inquiry was about reading comprehension and how EL

students (English Learners). The reason why I chose my focus on this topic was because it was

personal to me. I myself was an EL student growing up and I like to share this with my students

too so that I can encourage them to strive for success. Being an EL students I not a bad thing, in

fact learning more than one language has been a strength for me and I like to remind my students

that as well and how this great quality with be a plus point in the real-world.

As the program comes to an end, I am so proud of the accomplishments I was able to

achieve through this research project. There was a lot of planning, adjusting, trial and errors, but

most importantly learning was happening. Not only just my students, but myself as well. I am

glad I was able to not only help my focal students, but also got to see growth in my whole class.
