Le Rêve (The Dreams)

Good day, kids. How are you? I'm Maureen Mante, a tourism student from Holy Name University. You can just
call me Ate Rain, and I will be your tour guide for today. I am happy to be able to assist you kids, and I hope you
will enjoy exploring this museum's artwork here inside the museum. Have you seen a lot of artworks like this
before, kids?

So, kids, please listen. I'd like to make a few polite reminders. In terms of the rules governing the artwork in this
museum:

 Walk, don't run. Running can harm you and other visitors. Take your time, there is a lot to see.
 Do not touch. Fingerprints and pen marks cause damage.
 Don't get too close to any art.

Le Rêve (The Dreams) was created by Pablo Ruiz Picasso, a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, and
theater designer. One of the most highly-valued and most expensive paintings ever sold. Do you agree that this is
the most valuable and expensive artwork of all time?

This painting was made by Pablo Picasso on January 24, 1932, in one afternoon. It would become one of the most
expensive and controversial paintings. An artist is a 50-year-old man and his young mistress, Marie-Thérèse
Walter. The erotic content of the painting, which was originally part of the collection, has been noted often.
Critics point out that Picasso painted an erect figure in the painting.

The artist had never written to any woman before and admired her as much as he did his muse for her beauty
and intelligence. Steve Wynn, the casino magnate, and collector of masterpieces, once famously damaged a
Picasso masterpiece in his collection by accidentally putting his elbow in it. In his personal art, he uses bright
colors—red, green, yellow, and white—to represent love and hope. Wynn sold the painting to Steven Cohen, who
owns the hedge fund SAC Capital.

So, kids, how was your sightseeing here at the artwork? Did you enjoy the short story?
