Balancing Theory of Machines (3341903)

EXPERIMENT NO. 6

Aim: Balancing using graphical and analytical method

Objective: Prepare sheet for Balancing, report of calculation.

1. Three masses 5 Kg, 6Kg and 8Kg are revolving about an axis in the same plane at the radii
of 0.12m, 0.1m, and 0.15 m respectively. The angle between 5 Kg and 6 Kg mass is 600 and 6
kg and 8 Kg mass are 1650. Determine magnitude and position of the balancing mass at the
radius of 0.14 m for the state of balance.
2. Four masses m1, m2, m3and m4 are 200 kg, 300 kg, 240 kg and 260 kg respectively. The
corresponding radii of rotation are 0.2 m, 0.15 m, 0.25 m and 0.3 m respectively and the
angles between successive masses are 45°, 75° and 135°. Find the position and magnitude
of the balance mass required, if its radius of rotation is 0.2 m.
