REFLECTION

Celestial Navigation is one of the major subject that is necessary for the students
enrolled in BS Marine Transportation. This subject is about observing the positions of a
celestial bodies in the sky in order to navigate the vessel. Learning about the solar system
and it’s composition, the daily motion and horizontal system of coordinates, the celestial
sphere, the orthographic projection, time and equation of time, the nautical almanac,
the sextant altitude correction, position fixing and position determination and compass
error is necessary. All this topics are important to learn because this subject will helps us
in the future as a seafarer.
Reviewing this kind of subject will help us to clarify some things that we didn’t
understand regarding the subject and will help us to further increase our knowledge
about it. However, there are some things that makes us easy to understand if it will be
teach in actual not in online but all in all this subject is important to understandnd
reviewing it is worth it.
