REDUCTION OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ALLOWANCE FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR 2020-2021

Whereas the university is facing financial challenges due to the Covid-19 situation and
the low number of student enrollment, and
Whereas the university is trying to find ways to balance the 2020-2021 budget and the
professional development allowance is one of the items that can be reduced with less
effect on the faculty and staff members, it was
VOTED To approve a 40% reduction in faculty and staff professional development allowance
PC2020 – 124 for the school year 2020-2021.

FINANCIAL BUDGET DEFICIT


Whereas the revenue of the university relies mainly on the enrollment of students, and

Whereas the widespread ongoing transmission of the Covid-19 virus will negatively impact
student enrollment which has already been declining for a while,

Whereas the drop in enrolment leads to a serious deficit in the AIU budget for the 2020-2021
academic year, it was
VOTED

To approve the following strategy to help improve the budget deficit of the university, starting
the 2020-2021 academic year (August 2020):

1. To reduce the workers’ compensation after the annual increment by 2% until


further notice.
2. To reduce the home-based allowance for international workers by 10% until
further notice.
3. To hold home leave allowance for international workers for 2 years, starting
the 2019-2020 academic year. An exception is made for those who have
already bought their tickets or who have not had their home leave for the last
two years.
4. To freeze new hiring or replacement of workers until further notice.
5. Thai and International staff to teach one class per year without overload
payment.
