BREAKING—Nearly 2,000 #COVID19 cases in Scotland

now linked to attendees of #Euro2020 ⚽ events—
#DeltaVariant. 2/3rds of cases had travelled to London for
Scotland vs England. 90% male. now has **all-time
record high Covid** plus ⬆hospitalizations. 🧵

Football linked to 2,000 Scottish Covid cases

Most of the 1,991 cases were people who travelled to London for Scotland's game
with England on 18 June.

2) Scotland record high #COVID19 cases — here is the data. It’s now higher than even
winter surge!
3) Most of the Scotland surge is in terms and young adults. But it’s rising in those 45-
65 and elderly age groups too.

4) Scotland now having rising hospitalizations and ICU patients due to #DeltaVariant
too. This rise is real.

5) Yet this is all happening in Scotland with 49% fully vaccinated. Vaccines work
but still many people vulnerable to #DeltaVariant. This is why we need to mask until
vaccinations at a higher threshold. I think with Delta it needs to be near 85%- 90%.
But 65-70% minimum.

6) ugh… “Scotland was only allocated 2,600 tickets for the match at Wembley
because of Covid restrictions.
But tens of thousands of fans are believed to have travelled to London despite
warnings not to do so unless they had a ticket.”

7) “Many gathered together in large groups in central London ahead of the game,
with those in Leicester Square being moved on by police shortly after half-time.”

8) “Public Health Scotland said it had tagged positive Covid cases if they attended
either a Euro 2020 organised event, such as a match at Hampden or Wembley
Stadium or the Fanzone at Glasgow Green.

9) “People who tested positive after attending an informal gathering, such as a pub or
a house party to watch a match, were also tagged.
The report said that 1,294 of the 1,991 total cases had reported travelling to London,
including 397 who were actually at the match.”

10) “Scotland fan Michael MacLean told BBC Radio Scotland that he tested positive
for Covid following his trip to London for the match against England.
The 21-year-old visited pubs and celebrating with other supporters in Leicester
Square during his three-night stay in the city.

11) A few days after returning to Scotland, he showed symptoms of coronavirus.

He said: "Leicester Square, I would say, was the spreader.
"It was an amazing experience, but I am quite gutted I got Covid because that has
affected me, affected my work, it has affected my friends."

12) Cases in Scotland have surged in recent weeks, with Scotland thought to have the
highest Covid rate of any UK nation.
Health Secretary Humza Yousaf said that the data clearly showed the number of
people testing positive was "skewed disproportionately towards young males".

13) First Minister Nicola Sturgeon says
"We were very explicit in saying to fans who didn't have a ticket for Wembley not to
travel.

"We can't physically stop every person travelling and significant numbers of people
did travel."

14) We are committing a lot of “own goals 🥅” during this Pandemic. Schools and
kids cases are another own goal by removing mask mandates.

Shocker—school mask mandates were rescinded for early

teens in UK on May 17th—#COVID19 cases rise. More
shocker—schools close for holidays—cases fall. Even more
shocking—cases rise again when schools reopen (with no
masks). In other news, the sun also rises when
rotates.

15) Everything is fine? Covid is over? UK 󾓪 surging hospitalizations… the

#DeltaVariant’s hospitalization march upwards continues….

16) if #EURO2020 soccer match outbreak in Scotland was bad… now imagine
cruise ships 🛳 soon in Florida or the #Olympics2021. Demanding travel insurance
for the unvaccinated is not a bad policy— albeit it sends a very obvious signal what
actuaries think will happen.

What does it say when @RoyalCaribbean asks

unvaccinated guests to get travel insurance for Florida
cruises? It means they know what will likely happen.
